Thinking of buying DC Level 4

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I have a RE SX, I have had it for a year now and I am kinda getting sick of it. So, I was wondering. What kind of difference would it make going to a DC Level 4? I will be running 1000 watts to it. Would I be happier? I like good, loud, clean bass.. but who doesn't?

to be honest, you might be alot happier with a bigger upgrade.. you will hear a difference with the DC over the RE, but the difference wouldn't be too significant imo..

what i'd suggest is upgrading to a larger diameter sub, like a L4 15 or even an 18" if you have the space.. now that is a difference you can enjoy..

or if you have the funds, get a bigger amp and a L4 XL.. :D

you either need to double your cone area or get some more power then run the DC.

no real difference with the straight dorp in.

Hmm, Maybe I will go with a 15 or an 18. How much SQ can I expect to loose while going bigger like that? If any at all?

not much once you use the right size port and tuning.. also, if you can flare the ends, that will help alot with port noise issues.. some internal damping on the wall opposite the port will help as well if you want to maintain a high quality..

Larger diameter subwoofers don't sound any worse than smaller, theoretically they can sound better.

Alright, thanks guys, tomorrow I will measure the biggest box I can put in my car, and hopefully by tomorrow Rusty would have emailed me back.
