System Overhaul

Recommended Posts

Well I've officially had it with my system, and as soon as I get out of school I will be ripping my car apart and replacing everything but my HU and Amp (Alpine 7995, SS Ref 604). I currently have 0 gauge in my car, and it is way overkill (left over from a hardcore install). My car alt died yesterday, so I'll have a brand new one in tommorow and don't feel like killing it so this install will be very low power. I will drop to 4ga because I don't need anymore than that. Rip out my currently half-assed diy comp setup (Alpine tweet, infinity mid and xover) and replace it most likely with some CDT Ef's. My B212 is next to go basically because i'm sick of the space its taking up in my trunk (although I love the sub to death). I'm going to replace it with an 8 or a 10 sealed in about .5 cuft glassed in the back corner ofmy trunk (Wall out of mdf and glass back if you see what i'm saying). I have a few subs i'm contenplating, CDT EF CF 8, RL-i 10, 9 or 11kv2. I would really prefer to stay under 100 for the sub, but I guess if the RL-i was really worth it in my application I'd get it.

I am looking for anything but volume from my sub, I am entirely too sick of having my sub drown out highs at low levels even when the sub is turned down, I simply lack the need for much displacement. A single 8 in an enclosure like that should be plenty to fill the gap left from about 70hz to 30 correct?

Doors are already deadened with about 12ft^2 of P&S per door. I will be buying another 3 rolls of it to place more on the doors, floor, trunk, and rear shelf.

Thats pretty much it, any questions, comments, other suggestions please let me know, I'm pretty pumped for this and would appreciate any advice you guys have to throw at me.

just wondering, are you useing the Sound Stream to power the entire set up or just the mids?

Powering everything, two channels bridged to sub at 1 ohm then running each set of comps off of SS, was contenplating running active, but got lazy :)

Keep the wiring. No need to downgrade to 4 guage. It'll just ending up costing more money. As for the sub, just run it sealed. Will work fine. Get a good component set with a strong midbass driver and you'll be all set to go.
