I'm not seeing a 2000, but two dual 2 subs would give you either .5 ohm or 2 ohms

sub size? you need to give some info... like what dimensions you have for a box, music you listen to, sealed? ported? bandpass? TL....

You failz!

The 2000D is on pre-order.

Get the D2, and run it in parallel at 1 ohm. 12 awg would be fine

hehe I think i saw something somewhere about that... is there a 3500 coming too?

and doesn't he want 2.... so D1's series/parallel for 1 ohm? and I'd go 8 gauge

( jus kidden)

damn that is what i call a fast answer. thanks. i am also unsure of whether i want to go sealed or ported. i'm leaning towards sealed because they are gonna be going in a caprice wagon. i want it to sound as clean as possible being that it's not going in a trunk, but i've only ever had sealed so i was kinda wanting to try ported. i also posted another question in the sundown forum if your feeling helpful. lol. thanks again.

It depends on what final load you would like. It is a good thing to know how to do on your own. :)

With the dual 1 coils you can have .5 ohm or 2 ohm.

With the dual 2 coils you can have 1 ohm or 4ohm.

In a Series configuration, the total resistance is the sum of all the parts

Rtotal=R1+R2+R3...

In a Parallel configuration, the total resistance is the addition of reciprocals of the parts and then take the reciprocal of that.

1/Rtotal=1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3...

I'm going to hope that he read it as 1 speaker (somehow). If not, before you speak, think!

ported can sound pretty clean as well, and since you have a shaggin.... I'd guess you will have room for a nice low tuned ported for good SQ

i have plenty of room for ported, but still not sure. i think i may just try ported. if i don't like it, i can always go to sealed later. seems as if there are conflicting answers for the ohms. i'd want to run the amp at 1 ohm.

ok with 2 subs?

so you wanna use 2 subs... and be at 1 ohm..

buy 2 D1 subs.

Correct.

Two subs to a 1 ohm load = D1 coils

One sub to a 1 ohm load = D2 coils.

END.

Correct.

Two subs to a 1 ohm load = D1 coils

One sub to a 1 ohm load = D2 coils.

END.

let's clarify why so he can feel secure about it, since we confused the chit out of him....

1 subwoofer dual 2 coils: you can run the 2 coils series to get 4 ohms or parallel to get 1 ohm.

2 subs dual 2 coils: you can run the 2 subs coils series for 4 ohms each then run the subs parallel for 2 ohms OR

you can run the 2 subs parallel for 1 ohm each then run the subs parallel for .5ohm

now if you get D1 coils

1 subwoofer D1 series is 2 ohms or parallel is .5 ohms

2 subs series/parralel... sub coils series 2 ohm parallel 1 ohm OR

sub coils parallel .5 ohm subs parallel .25 ohm OR

series/series to get 4 ohm

It sounds very complicated and intimidating, and sometimes it can be... it is important to get it right so you don't have any misshaps!

But it can be easy too if you pay attention and make sure you understand first

And you aren't a sealed buyer by the way, just go ahead and port them.

I Ordered My Fi BTL Subs At Dual 2 Ohms

So That TI Can Bridge Them To 1 ohm Total

Im not Sure About .5 ohm tho.

Might Blow Something Haha

As For The Gauge Of The Wire

Go With 0/1 Guage ;)

2 dual 2 ohm will give you 2 ohm or .5 ohm

call them back and change your order

Wow - what a thread.

Just to sum it up - (2) subs with Dual 1 ohm voice coils will get you a final load of 1 ohm. Wire the coils on each sub in series, and then parallel the 2 subs.

I would use 12 ga as a minimum for speaker wire. The amp and speaker terminals will handle up to 8 ga if you find some for a good price. Never hurts to go bigger and it looks cool :D

Not the thread starter, and this guy is running two amps according to his signature. . .
