OK what would you have done 29Hz on DOWN

Recommended Posts

So I get tired of the "why?" and "that's just a stupid waste" so i just go and do my own thing.

But here, tell me what YOU would do to get MY results. (not yours).

I want super mad lows. 18Hz-29Hz. I do NOT care about 30Hz-60Hz for the sake of this argument. From 29Hz on DOWN.

I have no HO alt (yet). I have 4 guage wiring all the way around. I have a BXi2608D that I do NOT have to use all of. I can easily turn the gains down so I get a super clean super easy 600 watts RMS if I want, but I have up to 2600 if I NEED it. I have 38" tall in front available, 32" tall in back, 42" wide to use up all of my hatch for an enclosure, wall preffered.

I spent $240 shipped. IF I had another $75 at the time I quite possibly would have gotten a Q instead. I didn't.

So with what i had available, what would you guys have done to get the most 29Hz on down possible?

Doesnt have to be Fi

tuned to 22hz, does a 140.1 at 25hz, peaks at 144.4 at 41hz(but you dont care about that one haha)

the sub i had it was an audiopulse axis. this box was good enough for a decent hairtrick. if i could build it again i would make the the volume bigger. its only 2 cube now.

edit: the hairtrick

just added you as a friend. I really do wnat to try something just like that, only I have more space available and I will tune below 20Hz. Would 48" wide, 32" tall, 30" deep external be large enough to do that for an IB3 18" ?

That is freakin awesome work man... awesome!

well the IB3 is an IB woofer, Infinite Baffle so it does not need an enclosure. Just don't get that confused with "free-air". It need a baffle that is sealed off from wherever it's being played to the most air possible. that's why in many SQ setups you will see IB woofers mounted in the rear decks with the rear decks reinforced.

It can still use an enclosure. In fact, any driver can be successfully used in Infinite Baffle as well.

try telling that to Steve Meade. Just do a couple searches over on SMD... "freeair" and "infinite baffle".

I tried.

Providing you have the space why not an IXL18, more displacement than the MJ, awesome driver for what mark sell them for...

Sounds like you have enough volume and 600watts should be more then enough with low tuning

If that's the one, though I like it's Fs much more than what I have, it only has 22mm Xmax. Though that can open up it's own debate, Xmax is my personal parameter of choice. It isn't the only thing I consider, you just can't go off 1 parameter, but it is my personal most important. Also, it is a single 4 ohm coil. Can't do it. I gotta have a 1ohm load, and I did have to have a .5 ohm load till I was finaly able to ditch my Lanzar :)

you don't need big super woofers to get the lows

for example

this set up peaked at 147db @ 27hz
