2 12" SDC's.....first box!!

Recommended Posts

The sound stuff:

AQ1200D amp

2 12" SDC2.5s

So after reading all these build logs, i decided to try to build my own box :D It's not too bad so far for a first try....and the first time using a skil saw LOL. This is all going into a 1999 Civic sedan also :)

here's some pics!

Yes I'm going to fix that gap....i have to cut the top, put those "steps" in place so the subs and port can all fit like they will be on the front. Also need to cut the port back one inch, overestimated it cause i did like five different boxes before i got everything fit.

And this was the easiest way to do it, which isn't too bad. I think it should turn out pretty good! What do you guys think? Any pointers to make my box better?

the concept is there , and i give you an A for effort just remember measure twice cut once

Yeah definitely figured that out......I'm planning to building a better, cleaner, more precise box this summer so that should turn out way better because of all I've learned so far.

I learn something new every time I build. Just keep practicing!

Haha that i will! I'm hooked on car audio, so the more i learn, the more i'll want to do :D Even the guys on here hitting 140+ db change their setups fairly regularly lol

Did a little bit of work today....cut the back at an angle so it fits the side pieces, but thats about it. It was cold and windy today, which makes for a cold, irritated and very sawdust filled me.....but there was progress!

Keep at it. I was always told it is better to just do it and learn the hard way. It is much easier to remember what not to do than to remember what should have been done in the first place................or something like that.

Haha yeah i'm alread looking back and thinking, "Now why didn't i do it this other way? And what did i do that for?" LOL but it's all really fun, just cant wait to get my subs!!

Ok So i did some more fitting and checking....man am i going to have to build a better box in the summer lol!

But here's some pics....

CopyofIMG_7912.jpg

CopyofIMG_7916.jpg

look a little to the right of the speaker....the box is just high enough so the top scrapes on that bump

nice snug fit lol

CopyofIMG_7906.jpg

CopyofIMG_7905.jpg

After i put the "step" in....can you say close fit?

CopyofIMG_7909.jpg

And an even closer fit =/

CopyofIMG_7910.jpg

CopyofIMG_7911.jpg

My ghetto fix for the speaker hanging too low.....i don't like it....

CopyofIMG_7917.jpg

How can i fix my speaker? To make it sit higher?

Well all in all, it's been a great learning experience :D Any tips on how to put the box together?

Almost done with it. Screwed it together, for the most part, and started sealing it. Figured out something else....it's too big to slide in and out of my trunk, meaning i have to assemble the rest IN the trunk.....ugh :(

Good effort :)

You may want to change your saw blade though. Wood burn on the sides means a blunt blade.

Haha actually in my event. it means the WRONG blade lol! The first blade i used was definitely not made to cut that kind of wood.

Definitely will post a thread to see what you guys think about the single......I'm reall anxious to see what these can do :D

Thanks for all the support! Its really encouraging, especially the tips and criticism!

You are doing great just keep working at it. I used the same Audioques and the numders from DJ at Audioque worked best.If that saw uses a 7 1/4" blade get some 60 teeth ultra finish blades. Good luck an keep working.
