"Stock" Nightshade 18"? There is no such thing. 'Shade 18"s are custom made by jake and they can be made to handle 3000w.

So why do they say 1500Rms Is that the least amount of watts to be pushed nicely but can Handle up to 3000 Watts..

That was for the first version, now Jake builds them himself with a longer coil and cooling "stock".

The term "stock" is funny. Lol

Nothing "stock" about woofers that can take beatings like that. I'm almost sure they could take 6K of clean power if you were careful with the volume.

The currently built Nightshades are still rated 1500rms. Yes they've been known to take more but the rating remains the same. Anyone running 3kwatts or better should do so with caution. And they don't need 3kwatts to get loud. 2kwatts is plenty.

There aren't really multiple versions of the 18s. They've always been built in-house. The only differences were if someone wanted a stiffer spider setup.

My plan was to run 2 18" BL'S to a Sundown 3000D at .5 but seeing the nightshade they seem like they would be louder with the same amount of power. I could get the BTL's but it would seem pointless running each sub below the recommended wattage especially when they seem to need atleast 3K watts each and the nightshades dont need a whole lot of room. I got 10-11 C.F. to work with so it would be perfect..

I would attach a lower rating to any sub I built just because there are many woodchucks out there that think the amp gain is a volume knob and they wonder why they keep blowing their chit. I've had customers in the past who blew subs because the gain was cranked all the way up 99% of the time.
