2 cubes or 2.5...any different?

I have a 12'' Q with Bp and its powered by a hifonics 1208d. I was wondering if the amount of cubes made it sound different. I know it does but how much. I wanted to go with a 2.5^3 tuned to 32 hz. The only problem with this is idk if i will have the space. So would 2 cubes sound any different and how?

2.0 should be fine for that.

if your building it yourself you can always try again if you dont like it.

but if your having it built then i don't know Ive never not built my own boxes, having them built for you can cost a pretty penny so make sure you know what your getting before you waist your money. a box that cost 20 to make yourself could cost hundreds

and if you dont mind me asking what are you putting this in?

im in the same situation, and im tuning mine to 32hz aswell.

since were tuning to 32hz, is that "low"? in other words should we aim for 2.5cuft box?

I usually find that, a smaller box is more SPL oriented. But a slightly larger box plays music better.

But, it is different with every sub.

That seems illogical since larger enclosures have higher efficiency. Smaller boxes have a larger peak which may make them SEEM SPL oriented.

I have just found that you take the same woofer on the same power, usually a smaller box gets a higher number at the freq it is tuned to then the larger box does.

I could have it bass ackwards though

I would agree with this here. You don't see many competitors running tiny, little ported boxes. The downfall of the larger enclosure is a decrease in power handling.

If you wanted the best of both worlds could you make one box tuned to 31 hrtz and another box that is the same size tuned to a higher hrt?
