Neither is better for a car or a truck/suv. You build an enclosure to suit your ears and your drivers. A ported box will definitely go low if tuned that way. 28-36 hz tuning frequency will give you plenty of output down low. You can go around an octave lower than your tuning point before output suffers and you have problems with over excursion.

half octave is closer but well said.

The ported box must have been tuned high, I just can't see a sealed box having more output then a well built ported box.

Depends, if he truly means low then the sealed box will be better.

Well that's not to low. Tune around 30 and your set.

The first part of your statement was right, that isn't low; however, telling you to tune to 30Hz when you are using the word "hit" makes no sense. 32-34hz would work out WAY better for your tastes.
