AQ SDC2.5, DCSL LVL3, AA

Recommended Posts

Hey all im a noob to this so if im doing something wrong let me know... im selling my old system (2 eclipse 7200 12's and a rf p600.2 i kno i kno im underpowering the subs) in search of a better system... Ive decided that what ever brand of woofer i go with i want to do 3 10's... also i want these subs to fit in between the wheel wells of my grand prix... i believe the distance between them is about 37 inches... Im looking for SQ out of my subs... i am also budgeting my self cuz i know i can go crazy with my sound system... my budget is about $700-$800 between the subs and amp(s) Ive been looking at these brands... AQ SDC 2.5's, DC Lvl 3's, SSA Dcon's, and AA Arsenal's... the DC's sound the best to me because of the price... but My question to everyone is which sub would fit my car audio needs the best... im looking for an honest opinion... i dont want opinions like this brand is garbage so go with this... if you all could possibly explain why it would fit my needs it would be greatly appreciated... also if there is any other brand not mentioned thats within my price range and sounds good i'd love to know what brand it is... again i am on a budget...

Thanks

:domodance:

you claim you want sq but you are doing 3 10's seems a little overkill. a single 10 should be fine for sq. if you want loud and a clean response that is diffrent. to do this the box is most important. what were the specs of your last setup and what about it were you not happy about.

The SDC is not an sq sub. They don't like sealed enlocures and like high tuning in ported.

my previous setup was :poop: dont know the specs on the box but it looks decent (i know looks have nothing to do with sound)... it jus didnt sound right to me... it wasnt hiting the lows like it wanted it to... even in a sealed box... and when i stepped out the car with the music turned up (not blasted) it literally sounded like it wasnt playing at all... now im not the type of person that goes around shaking houses and pissing the neighbors off but everynow and then i want people to know what type of bass i have in my trunk and turn some heads... i guess my question is which of these subs honestly has the clearest sounding bass with the most range (from hitting the lowest lows to high notes) in a sealed box... and which would it be in a ported box?

i know this is off topic but what about DD... how's their line up with SQ?

and does anyone have prices... i know their prices are outrageous but i jus want to kno...

Your posts are very conflicted. You are saying SQ and then picking drivers that have no SQ focus at all. On top of that if you had no low end in a sealed box you needed a larger box or your definition of low end is screwball.

before you buy a new system. lets find out a little more about this one is it sealed is it ported. take measurements to find how large it is. how is it located in the car, subs back ,up, forward, side. how is it wired both on there own channels or bridged, the subs are rated at 500wrms each and the rf amp should give them each atleast 300w more than enough to get loud. with the right box setup you should be able to get more out of the subs. what type of music do you listen to help to determine possible tuning and box size. do you have a dmm

i sold the old system already... and my pic on my profile is my car... anyways... ive been researching and have narrowed it down to the fi q's or the dc LVL 3's or 4's

Your decisions are based on wrong information. With an SQ setup you shouldn't hear anything outside the car, which isn't your prerogative. You want the opposite of SQ, rethink your requests and ask a better question without terminology you don't understand. A quick read of the noob posting rules would help you a ton.

what type of music do you listen to this would help with it alot. also you dont need to use a lot of power and subs to be loud. im doing an install with a cheap pair of 10's $50 and a bazooka 300w amp from a pawn shop $25 i plan on doing low 140's with it and bass race 139.9 this is louder than your average street beater. the only way this is possible is the box and install. you dont need to spend a ton of money to get what you want it just needs to be setup correctly for what you want.

Like ///M5 is saying, try to explain your goals, and try to stay away from watered down terms that are tossed around on the net loosely. So far we have a budget you need to stay with in. But lets cut through the general terms and focus in on what you are really after first. For example, are you looking for a balanced system where no one speaker is over powering another, or are you looking for a system where the sub woofers are very present?

Also, do you have an amplifier already or are you looking for one at the same time?

Vehicle type?

Space requirements or limitations?

etc. ;)

Im looking for and amplifier as well i had my eye on the AQ 2200d for my set up... i drive a 2000 grand prix gt and i use my trunk sometimes for small stuff (medium size duffel bag for light traveling ect) so anything past the little screw knob for the spare tire compartment to the back seat is fair game for my subs... and im kinda looking for a balanced system like im looking for front stage speakers as well but i want it to be pretty loud i guess so im not looking for so much sq but i want it to still sound crisp when i want to turn it up... but my front stage is another story...

people it isnt hard. He wants a LOUD SOUND QUALITY systems he wants to be loud and sound good doing it

Your AN IDIOT. If that were the case he wouldn't be asking about subs at all, but what he could do in the midbass realm to make that happen.

A pr. of 10's ported on good power will make you happy. 3 10's in that trunk is gonna leave you no room.

Adding to your Mid stage is a good idea. Commonly overlooked.

Your still being kind of vague in your goals, you could get a loud crisp sound with a single ten or even eight and a good front stage.

Also a lot of people are not all that familiar with a grand prix of that year so they won't know where the spare tire screw is. Hell, I have one and I not entirely positive on where it is without going to look.

im not using the fosgate set up im the system im lookin at... put it this way... whats a good 2 15" system that will work well with a AQ 1200... And possibly 2200... i kno the amps are in two diff categories but what subs would go with either amp... mind you im lookin for 2 15's i think i have about 6.5 cubes max to work with...

what are the exact dimensions you have for a box, until we know exactly what will fit and what your budget is it's hard to determine what you will need because the possibilities are endless. from my perspective i think you are looking for a single ported 15," probably a BL or BTL if your budget so allows.

and the guy who is talking about LSQ obviously did not read the terms and conditions when he registered on this forum...

I'd like to know the dimensions to get 6.5 cubes in the trunk also. Short of building it in the trunk or putting it on the back seat I don't see it happening with out major modification. The problem is the trunk opening on the GP's, they are horrible to fit a enclosure through.
