what opitions would be good for 2 Fi BTL 18''?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy 2 Fi BTL 18'' with 4000 to 5000 rms each. they will be in a 2006 ford F-150 in a "blow through" i still dont have any amps, i normally listen to music with low notes. some guy told me that if i order a sub with 5k i could not play it for more than 30 sec cause it would burn. would that be true. how much would a sub run of this type?

are you wanting a sub for daily or comps only?

if you play a btl with 5000w rms daily it will fry

if your just burping it, it might take 5000w "but i don't do burps so i don't know"

if your just wanting killer bass in your truck just put 3k rms and that will be plenty "probably more than you need"

just read up on it and you will see what they can handle. and as for the options read here:

so it would be a better option 4k watts.

from what i read you want to do daily. 4000 watts on daily would kill the sub. if tou are at the 3000 watt area you can probably get away with it if your box is well constructed and your electrical is stellar.

but he did say more than you need. are you competing? if not then y dude? all that is really not needed and you would be imo wasting your money. just slap 2-3000 watts on them each and keep it moving. they will sound just as loud and good

hey sorry to go off topic, what does your friends 6000 watt system consist of?

But yeah, idk all I know is that you would have to be VERY careful powering doulbe the rated power to each sub. I know it can be done but you better have a perfectly clean signal, and a pretty thoughout sized enclosure.

IF you know what your doing you can run 4-5k.

But if not youll burn them up quick

Why are you wanting to run so much power anyways?

3-4k per sub is more than enough. I run 4k per sub daily. Works awesome, but without the subsonic filter set correctly, I could destroy them mechanically.

Understand that to run 6-8k true RMS power, you will spend some $$$ on your electrical system.

what electrial do you recommend? you think that 3500k is a better option then 4k per sub daily??????

3500D is just a good amp. The difference between 3500 watts and 4000 is not a big deal unless you plan on doing a lot of SPL comps.

Batteries, HO alt, lots of 1/0 wire. . .

yeah you would need lottsss of $$$$$ for the electrical system. Theres more to a good hard hitting sound system then subs and amps. For something like that I would say u'd need a high output alternator, upgraded battery upfront in the engine compartment, Tonnss of 1/0 to wire everything, and probably a couple more batts strapped in the back.
