amp settings/box design

Recommended Posts

I have a 12'' Q dual 2 ohm and it will be wired down to one ohm. I have a hifonics bxi1208d powering it. I wanna make sure i get my settings right on my amp. Where should i set the SSF at and the low pass at? Also since my HU has 4 volt output, should i set my level to 4 volt?

As for the box, what hz should i have it tuned to. I listen to mainly rap and deathmetal...yeah i know complete opposites haha

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :):)

Tune the box for 32-33 Hz with that mix :)

SSF around 27-28 Hz.

LP filter - whatever sounds good to you. I would guess between 70-110 Hz.

Gain - you can start at the 4 volt setting on the amp, but it seems like the deck never does what it is actually rated, and the markings on the amp are never 100% accurate. Measure the output with an RMS voltage meter using a 50 Hz tone.

This is what my friend and I listen to (didnt think i'd find someone else like us) but anyway he has the same sub and its in a 30hz bandpass box and it sounds great. It can really keep up with the double bass. The deep bass sounds good but its not overwhelmingly loud. This is in a trunk.

I have a 15q w/bp and I had mine in a sealed box and felt it handled everything well, but i felt it had more to give, so Im building a ported box at 30hz. Mine is going in a blazer.

hope this helped a little

Jacob youre going to love that Q in a ported box...I hooked up my 15" Q two days ago and it blows my mind how loud it can get even just 1/3 of the volume up on my head unit. My box is tuned to 31 hz and it gets so low in my car..it will be awesome in a blazer...i have a friend who has the same sub in an 18 in a blazer
