u get what u pay .... of course they r top of the line ... even the entry series like Access (i heard 165a3 ina VW Golf and they sounded amazing) are better than any other components that cost way more ...

which ones were u looking at ? i find the Polyglasses quite nice (some people dont like their TWs) ...if u r lookin for some "great" speakers than Focal is the way to go ... or Hertz and MY personal best .... DLS (super natural sound)

right now i dont wanna spend more than 300 on the speakers alone so anything in that price range i guess.

The actual installation is going to play a big role in this whole deal.

What would make them top of the line ? Price ? Name ?

Lots of other possible options, it's not just Focal, RF and RE.

Do you have any processing available ? Maybe we can come up with some mix and match options if you have an adequate active crossover.

yes i know theres more than just those three. i guess right now top of the line to me is name and its proformance. ive owned both rockford and re stuff and couldnt complain about either thats why there at the top of my list. ive never done component speakers so im new to that side of town and could deff use some help

no deadening right now. its just a daily music system but like for it to be clear and sound good when im not listening to rap with heavy bass. and by processing do u mean like the rockford three sixty? if so deff dont even have a clue how to use that lol im a newbie still for the most part.

Deadening + mdf ring is, imo the first thing you need to do. As far as components go, I haven't played too much with components. But from what I can gather, the Focal tweeter is a matter of love or hate.

I have the Focal Polyglass 165VR3 set and I love it. However, I do wish I would have explored my options a little bit more before I made the decision to buy the set. These speakers are top of the line but as was said before you get what you pay for. I found mine used on eBay and IMO got a really sweet deal on them. I do think that there are equal if not better speakers on the market for less money. The tweeters are a little bright for my personal taste but several of my friends think they are great. I have heard really good things about the pairing of Mach5 MLI-65 and SEAS tweeters.

I laid down a roll of RAAMmat sound deadener and it cleaned up my sound tremendously. IMO you should really look into options of sound deadening before you make a solid commitment to speakers.

My advice to you is that you should nail down what your goals are as to what you want. Are you going to go passive or active? Do you want a 3 way component set or 2 way? What size are the factory speaker mounts? Are you willing to do some modifications to fit a different size speaker if necessary?

I have changed my mind several times on what my end goal is so I know it is tough, but just ask questions around here with some good research to back it up. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on these forums and they are very willing to help.

i guess the only real question i have right now is what is the difference between active and passive and how could i tell what i have now? i have been looking at sonic electronix (an online store). the speakers are 6.5 stock and i was actually thinking of having my door panel custom made to fit two and the tweeters but not sure about that. there going in an s-10 and no back speakers since its a three door. im always open to new ideas and am willing to try anything pretty much to make my truck sound and look better
