SPL 12 4th order bandpass (rebuild)

Recommended Posts

I had my old 4th order BP lying around in my basement so I decided to take it apart and modify a few things. I've made the sealed chamber smaller and I'm going to add more port area to the ported chamber. It will be a slot port facing up along the backglass, 5"x26." Sealed chamber is 1.5 cubes and ported is around 8. Tunage is 45 hz. And yes, it will wang :D

The enclosure looks pretty rough because of wear and tear of taking it in and out of my Jeep but the inside of it is where I sanded down the fiberglass resin. I'll probably just sand the outside and use black spray paint on it. haha.

All in all, it's not going to be very pretty but the inside is pretty smooth and it's going to be loud. More pics to follow!

It's very loud and has great impact, but unfortunately, I miscalculated the ported chamber and it's actually at 7 cubic feet tuned to 48 hz. It's brutal from 40-50 hz but I'm going to need to build a port plug or something if I want to get back the 35 and below that I was getting with my ported enclosure of death.

Welp, now I'm going to work on a transmission line next!

Too big for an SUV. Perhaps you should design one for those two drivers real fast. ;)
