ssd re-cone

Recommended Posts

I am waiting on a reply from Nick.

I don't see to many people reconing an ssd.

How much is a recone kit for an ssd. I need to change to D2's instead of my D1's. I picked up another Zapco Studio 500 :wacky: and need 4ohm a woofer. Can it have the copper coils and or the flatwound coil on this go around with a stock motor?

Is it a kit or just a cone? you know, does it come with glue and shims to locate the coil in the gap, thats sort of stuff.

thanks

Need to know what size SSD and your zip code.

You can have copper coil with a stock motor, but not flatwound. If you want copper coil, need to know that too.

Re-cone kit is everything but the glue and shims. Glue is no longer shipped, but loctite 20 minute epoxy from Lowes or Walmart works great. Use multiple layers of construction paper for shimming.

Post the info, and I will PM you a price.

Woo another FI :ninja:

its a 12ssd with dual 1ohm coils. I would like 2 ohm copper coils.

zip is 93722

Fresno, CA

be honest, is the centering of that coil rocket science. i have seen it done, but what kind of tolerance are we talking? How do you senter the dust cap and make the glue pretty/even?

I would hate to screw it up. Can i used the black CA glue? It is a ton of work to send it to you guys to have it done there? Can i have a price on that also.

the sending shipping is going to suck i imagine.

thanks

You can send it in. Only thing they add is shipping cost. ~$30 each way.

Centering is not bad. Just keep adding pieces of paper until the coil is tight in the gap. For the dust cap, I measure mine and place it without glue. Mark it with a pencil on the cone, apply glue, set the cap, and put a can on it until it dries.

CA glue for the dust cap is ok, but Scott told me the CA glue they actually use is not just plain CA glue like you buy at a hobby store. Loctite Epoxy works better for a home recone.

I work for a company in Fresno, but I am at the customer site in Texas!

Will PM you a price.
