Need advice for setup of Sub and Comps

Recommended Posts

Hope the experts here can help, I have some OZ ME380CS component speakers that I am looking to install in my summer cruiser. Iis a 72 Cutlass, so along with the comps and sub I plan on adding some sound deadinig. I recently came across a Punch 600a5 for a reasonable price so I scooped it up. I thought about doing a sub on the single channel and the comps on the other 4. I guess I'm wondering what the opinions are on the use of 5 channel amps vs. 4ch and a mono? If the 5ch would be a good option, what would be the best setup considering it the components are crossovers, mid range and mid bass both 4ohm and 6ohm tweeter? The amp specs are:

Punch 600a5

50x4+100x1@ 4ohms

100x4+100x1@ 2 ohms

Comps are rated between 75-125 watts rms

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If I am understanding the question right, the idea of a 5-channel over two separate amplifiers is great if it serves your needs. Many people prefer a 5-channel when space, price, and current draw might be an issue. Others opt for separate amplifiers when they want more power on average and flexibility down the road. As for your set up, you could run the components active off the amplifier if you want, but that is up to you. Or you could bridge the channels and get more power to the components and keep the crossovers on them.
