Woofersetc beware of this company????

Recommended Posts

holy moses indeed...after scouring google for comments on this car audio e-tailer I too am feeling angst!!! Granted any comment of e-tailer business experiences like anything else must be taken with a grain of salt...particularily when you take into account that 1 negative experience will reach mythic proportions as opposed to a good buying experience which probably results in no or at best, few good praise posts. E.g loyalists vs. loses.

WIth that said...this Woofersetc.. was accused by some buyers as either a 'front' or some business that really doesnt even exist!! So...appparently the owner is very rude and brash, he returns e-mails on a 'do-i-feel-like-it-or-not' basis. I had emailed him several times this last week (regarding questions i had for a product) and have yet to receive a response. Usually as a rule of thumb before i purchase from an e-tailer i email them (usually several times) and see if i get a prompt response and if i dont (I am talking weeks lateR) if there is any explanation to the delayed reaction. Keeping this in mind I did not rule out dealing with this guy(s) till i noticed the unequivocally bad experiences people got from this company. Some individuals became so fearful of losing their money they immediate canceled the ransaction after the owner contacted them via email (after some time) telling them that he is either out of a product or that he could not account for their order and to call another long distance # to find out what was ordered which does sound a tad bit odd to me. Anyway I am wondering if anyone on here has had any positive experiences with this company Woofersetc...??

It's 2009 and Woofersetc is still at it with bad customer service, here is my ordeal:

I bought a new Zapco 1000.4 from Woofersetc, I had it for about 4 months until I installed it and immediately noticed one of the channels was bad. I called them and asked to return the amp (as it had a 1 year warranty) and they said I should get a replacement in 2 weeks with 1 week transit time. Well the two weeks passed up and I called over and over again. I was told things like the amp is at Zapco being repaired one day, then the next someone said we don't know what's wrong with it, let me write that down so it can get sent to Zapco. I have many more examples but basically they gave me the run around. I had to file a chargeback on my credit card and I filed a BBB complaint. The very next day or two someone from Woofersetc called me to send me a new amp. Seems like a chargeback is what it took to get their attention. Well it took exactly 45 days from the day I sent my amp in to get the replacement. I was also hounded to close the chargeback case before I received the amp. Then guess what, this new amp died in about 30 minutes of playtime. I posted this info on another board and they came on accusing me of a faulty install. After I showed pics and documentation and had a third party verify it and the members there basically chastised Woofersetc they said they were no longer posting on that forum. Well now it turns out that Zapco says the serial numbers are removed from the inside of their amps by Woofersetc. If someone opens up the amp they can easily damage it, and in my opinion this is why the problem with the Zapco amps came up. If anyone wants more specifics please let me know, I am also currently in contact with Zapco and they are aware of the situation.

Oh I forgot, they actually asked me if I wanted to pay $150 for a new amp... yeah that sounds good, get a new defective amp and pay more money to get another new amp, maybe defective too.

Here's a list of actual things they told me since I called them:

-rep:warranty center did not call you back because Monday and Tuesday are their busiest days (today was Thursday and no one called me back yet so I ask why no one called me Wednesday) rep: no reply.

-rep:you never told us what was wrong with it (well that requires reading the paper taped to amp, this was after a rep took down this information over the phone a few days before)

-rep:we'll send you out a new unit but you have to wait a week or so and then call us back (yeah that makes sense, because they"ll probably "forget" to send it if I don't call)

-(I call woofersetc 213-239-8822), rep: I don't know the status, you have to talk to the warranty center to get the status on your amp, (ok what's their number I'll just ask them myself), oh its 213-239-8822 (so you are the warranty department?), rep:yes.

I called them up, had a simple question to ask and answered it pretty quickly and direct. 2 weeks later I got my components from Cali to Canada. My experience with them was good, but I would question buying amps and some pricier stuff from them.
