Help Choosing Amp for Fi Q15!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... I have posted this on a couple other forums and have not had too much feedback.

Here are the details:

2007 Chrysler 300C

Fi Q15 Dual 2 (Ported)

"Big 3" Upgrade

I am looking for an amp (1 ohm mono) to run a Q15. I would like it to sounds as good as possible (obviously) with a budget of $350. So far, I have narrowed it down to the following:

- US Amps MD-1D

- Sundown SAE1000

- Audioque AQ1200D

- Cadence iA7

All can be had for $350 or under... what is my best bet for a good LOUD SOUND QUALITY amp?? And why one over the other??

Thanks for all of your help!!!

SUNDOWN FTW well in my opinion

EDIT- sundown seems to be most popular and are very clean power, there also under rated and seem to have good customer service here on SSA

Out of those, pick which one you want. They are all good amplifiers and will treat you as you treat them. I'm going to say support our SSA vendor Jacob!

I am beginning to lean towards the Sundowns... however they are the most expensive out of the bunch.

Anyone know where to get the best deal on a Sundown amp??

Also, the Q15 (Dual 2) seems to show 1.5-1.6 ohms per coil on a DMM. So correct me if I'm wrong, but would'nt the amp see a .75 ohm load?? Is Sundown OK to handle such a load everyday?

What is the warranty on a Sundown amp??

ok I sent you a message on this early and you answered my ? on what your putting it in. What size wire do you plan on running cause like you said in the pm I'm running the same setup you want to run except it's in a civic. I'm running 4ga but I originally wanted to run 0ga which I have in my closet but the guy that hooked it up said he didn't have the tools to hook it up.

With that being said I don't have a big 3 upgrade or battery upgrade and the lights only dim when the sub hits really low notes (headlights, dome lights) For the amp the sundown sae 1200 does great doesn't heat up at all and I listen to it loud at all times and it NEVER heats up.

As far as which way it's being fired I'm firing it facing the trunk lid. I was going to fire it facing in the cabin but was told by a lot of friends including people on here that you will need to let the seat down so the sub isn't damaged. Reason I'm saying this is when you get your setup installed and you wonder why it's not moving any air just let your seat down.

Well hope you enjoy which ever decision you make. If it was me I would say the sundown SAE since thats what I have and it performs well with no problems

Like I said in the pm when I'm off work next time I'll shoot a video for you to see how the SAE performs so you can get a good idea
