NEED HELP IN COMPLETING MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Recommended Posts

I'M NEW TO THIS KIND OF SETUP SO IF I MISPRONOUNCE CERTAIN ABREVIATIONS, PLEASE FORGIVE ME, BUT HERE'S THE LOW DOWN.......

I'M OVERSEAS RIGHT NOW IN THE AIR FORCE TRYING TO GET EVERYTHING FOR MY SYSTEM SO WHEN I RETURN, I CAN BRING EVERYTHING TOGETHER BUT THIS IS TRUELY MY FIRST TIME PUTTING A SYSTEM THIS LARGE TOGETHER SO I COULD USE AND USEFUL ADVICE U HAVE FOR ME. MY FIRST QUESTION IS....

1. HOW DO I RUN MY BATTERIES AND IS THERE A DIAGRAM IN WHICH I COULD FOLLOW

2. FOR EACH ONE OF MY AMPS, DO I NEED TO RUN A SEPERATE CIRCUIT BREAKER?

3. DO I RUN THE POWER WIRE FROM THE ALTERNATOR OR FROM THE POSITIVE POST ON MY STOCK BATTERY WHICH IS A DURALAST MAXX YELLOW BATTERY?

MY PLAN THUS FAR IS TO DO THIS... I ALREADY PLAN TO RUN A 300AMP ALTERNATOR, I WANTED TO GO 0/GAUGE FROM THE FROM TO BACK. I ALREADY HAVE ONE KINETIK 2400 BATTERY IN BACK BUT I PLAN TO BUY 2 MORE, ( ONE BEING ANOTHER 2400 AND THE 3RD BEING A SMALLER ONE WHICH I WILL EXPLAIN IN A SEC) I WAS GOING TO ADD ONE 300 AMP C/B AT THE FRONT AND ANOTHER TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE CAR A FEW FEET FROM THE D/B (DISTRIBUTION BOX) NOW HERE WHERE I'M KINDA HAVING A PROBLEM FIGURING OUT. FROM THERE, THE SAME 0/GAUGE WIRE FROM THE FRONT, ONCE IN THE D/B, I WAS GONE SPLIT IT 3 WAYS, (EITHER USING 2 OR 4 GAUGE WIRE AT THE SMALLEST) TO THE 3 BATTERIES AND THE WAY I IGNITIONALLY HAD IT WAS ONE WIRE TO EACH POSITIVE SIDE OF THE BATTERY, BUT AFTER READING THE FORMS, I'M ASSUMING THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS PARALELL INSTEAD, BASICALLY TELLING ME TO RUN ONE WIRE TO ONE POSITIVE SIDE OF THE 3 BATTERIES AND CONTINUE TO THE SECOND BATTERY + AND THE SAME THE 3 UNTIL I GET TO THE END. SO WITH THAT IN MIND, I'M ASSUMING FOR THE -, U WANT TO START AND A GOOD SOLID GROUND, AND CHAIN THE NEGATIVES IN THE SAME MANNER ALL THE WAY TO THE END. ONCE I DO THAT WILL I NEED TO ADD C/B TO THOSE WIRES BEFORE PLUGGING THEM INTO MY AMPS? BUT BEFORE I GET INTO THAT HERES THE SETUP I WANT TO RUN.....

2- AUDIOQUE 2200D

2- BTL 18'2

1- AUDIOQUE 4X90

2- KINETIK 2400 CELLS

1- KINETIK 1400 OR POSSIBLY SMALLER FOR THE SMALLER AMP

NOW I'M PRETTY FIRM WITH THAT SETUP, ITS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING EVERYTHING SETUP THE WAY I WANT AND FOR IT TO PERFORM AS PROFICIANT AS POSSIBLE. NOW THE QUESTION BOUT THE SMALLER BATTERY, SINCE IT WILL BE MORE THAN LIKELY SMALLER THAN THE OTHER BATTERIES, HOW WOULD I TIE IT INTO THE OTHER BATTERIES SO IT CAN GET A CHARGE TOO OR WILL I EVEN NEED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER BATTERY FOR IT SINCE IT WILL ONLY BE PUSHING MY MIDS/HIGHS? HOPEFULLY I EXPLAINED THIS IN A WAY SOMEONE CAN HELP ME. FEEL FREE TO HIT ME UP ANYTIME FOR MORE QUESTIONS OR JUST RESPOND TO THIS POST AND I CAN GIVE MORE INFORMATION THAT MAY BE NEEDED TO HELP ME IN THIS MATTER. THANKS

Positive to positive and negative to negative for the batteries. Pretend like you have one big battery, there is no use in having a designated mid/highs battery, and the same for subs. Use buss bard on your rear batteries so you can have a lot of wire on it, linking the batteries and also for your amplifiers.

P.S. Lose the caps, it makes it incredibly hard to read.

first dont bother with c/b just use fuses. you want a fuse newxt to stock battery and on the other end before the rear batts. connect the 1/0 from the front to the rear batts then from the batts to the amps. the speaker amp will connect directly to rear batts like the sub amps. as far as grounding the batts a solid frame ground should work for rear batts but a 1/0 run from the front batt to back batts is preffered. dont forget to do the big 3.

Sorry bout that. As far as the batteries are concern, i just wanted to make sure i have ample amount of power. so let me get this correct, just the two kinetik 2400 wired as u say, " one large battery" should get the job done for all three amps? and also how will i branch to wires off to the amps, once again, sorry bout the caps.

threaded bus bars connect the batts possitive to bar through threads and connect power wires to any threaded hole. the big three is your charging wires alt to bat bat to frame engine to frame.

a 1969 Buick Electra or " duce and a quater"

Do you know how big the alternator is?

i haven't even bothered tried getting it tested, but i just figured since i knew i wanted to run a high powered system, that it would definally want to be one of the things i invested in. pretty much, i want a everyday, blow the trunk off other cars street banger! but i believe its a 80 or maybe 100 amp at most, but don't quote me on it.

Definitely consider a new high output alternator, that is quite a bit of power.
