Flared vs. Standard Slot Port

I am just curious to know what the difference between flared and standard slot ported boxes. Obviously outside of appearance is there any performance difference???? I am looking for a nice ported enclosure for my 12" AA Havoc.

Thanks for the quick reply. So there is no audible performance difference between the two if built properly?

audible performance diffrence i doubt it, on the mic you might see a .1 or .2db diffrence. if the port is on the small side id recommend the flares to help keep noise down.
