budget 10" sq sub for home use

Recommended Posts

i'm thinking about adding a cheap 10" sub to my dad's home audio setup. i was thinking about a RE re10d4 in 1.5cu @ ~28hz or something along these lines. his stereo receiver has a sub preamp output so i can just buy a cheap mono amp (100-200w) for power. the sub will be going with a pair of monitor audio rs6 towers in a medium/large living room. for price reference the re subs go for about $50ea. i was also looking at the dayton hf but they're about twice as much, i'm trying to stay under $75 shipped if possible. any suggestions???

the re10 seems like a good option...if you want something else, these are just off to top of my head : Peerles sls 10 and Dayton Quattro (not sure if this is still produced)

yeah, i've been looking at woofers and i just remembered the RE series this morning. it modeled up really well in winisd so i figured i'd post this thread and see if anyone could convince me otherwise. :)

thanks for the suggestions adrian, i like the peerless but at $90 the dayton's again creeping out of my budget for this build.

The TB fits your budget, well close:

I'm using an eD 11Kv2 in a 2 ft^3 box tuned to 27 Hz, gets loud and sounds pretty good. I know a lot of people don't like eD, but the sub works great for me

I might have an RE 12 that I could sell for that price. I've been tempted to hold on to it for far too long.

I'll see if I still have it in storage, shoot me a PM.

bought the re 10 today :)

started on a box, using birch ply for the first time and it's a lot easier to work with than mdf.
