Looking for experienced opinions

Recommended Posts

I was looking at getting 2 15"s for this summer and I'm not sure what would be the best bet. I'm looking for the loudest I can get with the best sound. The three I have in mind are the Fi BTL15's the Fi Q15's or the MTX9515's I've heard the MTX's and they are great, but I have never heard anything from Fi before.. The MTX is dual 4 ohm and Costs like 439.99. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Well I'm planning on running the Hifonics BXi 2608D for my amp.. I guess I'm looking for something that can hit hard as well as pick up those lows.. Not anything that hits so hard it sounds distorted though, know what I mean? Not sure about my electrical yet.. I already have a 0 guage ran through to an amp for my 6x9's and door speakers. So I guess I'll have to get a distribution block and a capacitor.

to properly power the BTL's you would need a whole lot more. and probably more than what you are looking to do. the mtx's are good woofers, but I think def. lack the performance of the Q. the mtx or the Q would have better SQ than the BTL, but not hit as hard (if you put the power them). sounds like you want something loud, clear, and ground pounding. two Q 15's without BP power would do just fine on that amp. The BTL is a 2000wrms woofer and that single amp can probably, at 14v get at most 1700 of clean power from what i've seen with them in the past. over 800rms of clean power will get the Q's moving quite nicely. depending on how low you want to go, i've used a Q 15" tuned to 28hz and hit everything I wanted. the 9515's, i have heard sided by side comparison to my Q 15, both powered well and everything and the Q simply out-performed, SQ and volume.

Okay, my next question would be can the Hifonics BXi 2608D amp power two 15" Q's? and what set up would be better for the Q's Dual 1 ohm or Dual 2 ohm? And why not go with the BP power?

BP power option is good if you are planning on slamming them hard, but reason i said no to it, is because that amp will only put out probably 1600 rms of clean power. that means 800 rms per sub, will be easier to get the woofers moving without the BP power option. if anyone disagrees please state your case. also if you wanted to go sealed (which it doesn't sound like you do) unless restricted on space

15"s and SQ..... not so much.

A capacitor also won't do anything either. Got to get a better amp......

I'm not trying to be mean or an ass. But I get the vibe you don't really know what your talking about.

Theoretically, an 18" will have "better" sound quality than an 8".

What would you think about this amp SoundStorm STA135, powering two 15" Q's or BL's?

Not your best choice. I have tried this amp out. For the money it did fine on 1 12 ssd wired to 1 ohm.
