Recommended Posts

Please give me your reasons. Will be running 2 12's of a 3000D

the Bl will be loaded...not sure on the nightshades options though

Nightshades come loaded; I have Nightshades so I'm biased.

jacob designed the Nightshade to compete with the BTL so there isn't much comparison .

you can get two BL's for the price of a NS, they aren't really comparable subs. that being said they're both well made subs.

I only have space for 2 12's that being said I take it the answer will be the BL;s in this application running of 3000RMS from what I have heard both the BL and the BTL have a similar sound.

mind sharing how much those shades will go for for interest sake?

Could you please elaborate? I'm in a similar position for my temporary setup...

like bigjon said, its up to you, and your goals. if money is an issue, the price difference should speak loud and clear, but if money is no object, i'd say go all sundown. i've owned both a 12" bl, and 15" nightshade...and the bl was impressive for what it was, but the nightshade is nothing to shrug off either

i asked bigJ about this too when i was in the market. he stated that the bl's sounded better, but with a drop in comparison, the nightshades were louder. i had different size speakers, so i can't speak on spl terms, but the bl's did sound better imho too

I have nightshades Not real fond of them for any daily use--they're OK but...(they just don't get low enough... I normally run some sort of "Sound Q" woofer for daily so not fair for me to compare)... **I only ran the NS for a few days for a "daily" feel... didn't really have it in long enough to be fair. I havn't heard the BL's..

It all depends on what you're looking for..

I cannot give you a comparison just my thoughts on the one.... BTW When I purchased the Nightshade I didn't expect to like the sound of it... For me they're just for SPL use for the time being.. It was kind of a get loud quick approach... I've seen several guys jump in db just from swapping to these woofers.. So I figured what the heck (I'll use the Shades until I find/purchase a 10" sub that can do what I need 150+ stock at the head :) )....

I believe BigJon has had both he could give you a fair comparison...

Listen to Jon, he's one of the few people (only?) on this forum who has owned both. He'll set you straight. :)

i've heard bigjon's car with the bl's and the ns's, and like he said, the bl's sounded better, but the ns's were a tad louder but didnt sound as nice as the bl's, still both are great subs, one just has a lil more sq.

idk if or when they might have the copper coil nightshade available but it might be something to look into as a middle ground between the two.

i used the same box amp cells and head unit... for both subs..

the bls were nice.. handled power nicely sound great on many kinda of music....

the nighshades pound hard they carry that long low note like crazy they move air!

but are in no way a SQ sub....

to me.. i enjoy the nightshade for beating it up....

but im a bass head....

all this is IMO.

right thx, reason why I am asking is we dont have local dealers for these and I never heard any of them except on pootube. Innetially i thought i would be a BTL kinda guy but just dont have the electrical to support two 12 and a single 15 just wont fit. thanks for all the input

I'd be interested to see if you could get similar SQ to the BLs if you put the Niteshades in a different box. From my understanding Niteshades like smaller boxes.

Ya the problem is I only have about 15" of hight and the box max hight will most likely be 14" so it will have to be 12" 's unless i put a single sub on its back and work my way into the wheel whell which i dont think will work so nicely in a trunk car
