SAZ-3000D @ .5Ω load daily

Recommended Posts

Well, I asked around over on CA, & EVERYONE told me that these beasts could handle it. (w/ proper electrical, of course)

Planned elec. as of now: (2) D3100s in back, 240A alt, stock bat. up front, "Big 3", 1/0 all the way around.

So what is your opinions on this? Can it handle it? Also, I read that the new SAZ-1500Ds don't carry .5Ω warranty coverage. What about the 3000Ds? And if the amp some how does fail do to this, what would it cost to get it repaired/replacement? (estimate)

BTW, these will be powering (2) HDC315 alum. models.

It should do just fine..... we are running 2 SAZ-1500's at .5 daily.... they don't even get warm....

You shouldn't have to worry about repairing it, if your electrical is right.

BTW, that is going to beat the brains out of those AQ's!!

P.S. SAZ's continue to make power down to .33ohm. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Sundown Warranty

In the stipulations, it says:

1) If your amplifier has a blown power supply or damage from excessive vibration there will be a charge for a warranty replacement within the 2-year policy:

* SAZ-1500D and smaller amplifiers (or any future model under 2000 watts) - $30 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $15)

* SAZ-2000D and SAZ-3000D (or any future model 2000 - 3000 watts) - $50 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $20)

Basically, if you blow the powersupply due to .5ohm usage, its gonna cost you 50 bucks to get it fixed.

Keep your electrical up and you'll be ok. You won't blow the PS unless your voltage gets too low.

Thanks man, I thought I saw that somewhere. But what exactly does "powersupply" refer to? Does it mean the amp in general or a component within the amp?

The power supply is a specific section of the amp. When your voltage gets too low it causes the power supply to work harder to produce power and typically the mosfets fry. Keep your voltage up and you'll be good to go.

You should be trying to stay over 12.0 volts.

Ok, I think I can do that w/ my planned electrical. Now, what is the verdict on the warranty? I looked back at the pinned topics & in every one I saw, it just mentioned the 1500D. In one topic, near the bottom, it said that you would continue the warranty at .5Ω to any sub. But in the top, it said you wouldn't? So what's the verdict?

I don't see it O_O

But it doesn't matter, your amp will be fine. I was running a Memphis 16PRD-1000.1 at .5 ohm daily. with drops to 11 and nothing bad ever happened.

Note the date on that thread - old information.

Warranty policy was updated again in October of 2008 to include the above information on the link. The information in the link is the current policy.

Daily (it's in title lol)

And why? Well the HDC3 alum. models can handle 3000wRMS. So I would like to put ~3000wRMS to each rather than 1500wRMS.

why not 2 of them straped at 2 ohms.??? its over 6k. and you keep your warrenty.. and you have a better shot at match gain.

Well, I guess b/c of money.

I'm working VERY hard to keep my budget ~ $2600

This will be my first system (turn 16 in a month) & I have right now $1800 or my money. People owe me about $600 & of course some B-Day money.

So your telling me, running one 3000D @ .5Ω won't give me 2500-3000wRMS to each?

And by budget of 2600, I mean for Subs, amps, box, batteries, alt included.
