Old Havoc Vs. New Havoc differences?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have experience with the older and newer Havoc? I bought a 15" Havoc a few years back and now see the Havoc's cone/dust cap has changed. What, if any besides looks, are the differences between the older Havoc and newer one?

All The old AA stuff looked the same. A shot of the motor would be sweet.

I think the new Havoc is a completely different monster, but both are still great speakers. I miagine that the t/s parameters will be different.

It is a Havoc, I'm sure of it. I have the receipt, I purchased it 2/9/06 before it was released at a promotional price. It does look like the Havoc may have been rehauled/redesigned. I'm wondering what the changes are and how the sound of the speaker has changed as a result? ie better sq, more spl...etc?

These are the specs I had written down at the time of purchase. Im not sure if they were the final specs as I bought it before it was released and some of the specs may have changed.

Dual 2 ohm

You have stumped me! Those specs are very different from the 'newer' Havocs'...

Definitely an old Havoc. One of two speakers that I didnt design or OEM for Chad when he owned Ascendant. Chads original goals were his take on a tough daily driving sub. Up until that point his focus was more home audio oriented... until the car audio crowd steered things in a different direction. A solid sub, but not what I wanted for the line. The new Havoc is a much more solid blend of sound quality and durability than the other sub. Looking at the old specs the Xmax is definitely suspect too. Ill have to pull the recone file for that one, but I was thinking more along the lines of 19-20 mm of Xmax with the flatwind that was used.

Thanks,

Scott
