1. Quality circuit board. Quality components on the circuit board. Large, but functional, heatsink. Decent cooling system. Flexibility (drop below 1ohm). Put the bloody adjustment knobs on the top of the amp (thank you MTX)! Good protection circuit. Easy wire inputs / outputs. Quality tubes (if it's a tube amp, no Chinese tubes) Etc.

2. Positive - give people something to do ... keeps kids off the streets. Instead, they're inside their garage smoking weed and adjusting their amplifiers, instead of smoking weed downtown and breaking windows. Negative - many members of society hate loud car stereos. You get the idiot kids blasting their stereo in a residential area at 2 in the morning ... it doesn't do anything good for this hobby. Without amplifiers, people wouldn't discriminate against teenagers and/or teenagers with aftermarket mobile electronics installed in their vehicles.

3. Benefits? Without amplifiers, you could install your equipment into your vehicle and ... look at it. Your CD player would power up. You could put a CD in it, yes, and look at the pretty lights ... but can you hear anything? No ... there is no power being send to the speakers - so no sound. Amplifiers allow you to hear music in your car, in your home, at your church, or in a hockey arena.

4. Class A, Class B, Class AB, Class D. Tube amps, solid state amps.

1.Class A amplifiers are very inefficient and produce lots of heat because there is a large amount of current flowing through the output transistors even with no audio signal.

2.Class B amplifiers are more efficient but will have a 'notch' distortion.

3.Class AB amplifiers are moderately efficient (depending on bias current) but notch distortion is eliminated by the idle (bias) current.

4.Class D amplifiers are very efficient but are generally used for non high fidelity or subwoofer applications.

All just my opinion.
