I am looking for a 6.5" midrange/midbass set , I have about a 250 dollar budget. I am using the sony amp in signature but will be switching to a Massive audio 100.4 late on. Thanks for suggestions

So you need a 6.5" midrange or a midbass ?

Are you plannig a passive setup or active ? If active, 2-way or 3-way ?

I need a midrange with good midbass, its and 2 way active set up. I can only use 1 single woofer in the door, do to the class I want to compete in.

I would highly recommend CDT Audio. I have their ES series and love them. I also have a dodge truck. I'm running es 06 6.5 in my doors and have es 04 and tweets in kicks. I would us my es 06 and tweets if I couldn't use a midrange. Great sounding speakers, very smooth with nice midbass. Seal off your doors with second skin build a nice baffle and let them rip. I'm running them active got them crossed over at 80hz and up. On certain songs they will vibrate my mirror. I'm not kidding these little guys will get after it and sound great doing it. I can hook you up with my buddy who is a distributer for them if your interested. Their HD series is awsome also.

are you competing in sq???

I have worked with alpine type x 6.5's, and IMO.... i think they are one of the best sounding midrange drivers I have ever heard. So i would recommend alpine spx-177r's

Wow they are cheap priced are they really that good ?

For the money, they are awesome.

If you are competing though you will find out that install is going to be far more important than the actual gear you use.

Take a look here : www.zaphaudio.com for some comparisons and "reviews" of popular 6-7 inch drivers.

Cool deal, working on the install with a friend that has competed quite a while 15 years or so

funny you should say that, i just bought a pair of cdt coaxes and i really like them. woofersetc.com is having a crazy sale on the stuff. free shipping and up to 70% off. got my 5 1/4's for 50 bucks. it's they're cl line but i saw some es and ef series drivers down from the $500 range to < $200!
