hey can u guys check this out

Recommended Posts

i've posted this in other forums too, im just trying to get as much input as possible.

this is for tc3000 12"dvc.

several experienced people have recommended around 2 cu, but i've done some more reading and it seems that they recommended for SPL purposes, you want to use a large enclosure and port. But im not going all out SPL, i just want a REALLY LOUD daily setup, so im just going to experiment and try something in between.

I've decided to go ahead and try 2.75 @ 33. i chose to use 15.5 sq in per cu ft since 15 and 16 seems to be the commonly recommended multiplier; the port area comes out to about 42.62 sq in. my max height is 13.5 so my width is about 3.157. i used the calculator on 12volt to calculate my port length which is about 32.964, winISD also calculated a similar length so i think its good.

last i tried to calculate the port velocity. im having trouble here, on winISD, i checked the graph and it seems to be .753 m/s @ 34/35hz, but when i tried using the calculator on CarStereo, it came out to be about .08 [8%] of mach [344.8] which equals about 27.584 m/s. im not sure which result to rely on. can anyone show me a reliable formula and calculator?

also, in winISD i've entered all t/s parameters the suggested way but i cant get it to plot the graph for my maximum SPL or maximum power.. any ideas?

The TC drivers tend to like much smaller enclosures. 2.75 cuft is larger than I've ever seen anyone put one of those drivers in. With such a high Bl that woofer will get loud in a box that is 1.5-2cuft and with 10-15sqin of port per cuft. You'll more than likely have to lose box volume to get that sub to reach it's full potential not to mention a little bit of port area as well.

Dont worry about SPL unless you are competing. anything around 2 cubes would be sufficient for a daily setup, which the "experienced" people recommended.
