Help with new box for Q15 w/Bp

Recommended Posts

Looking for some help designing a new box for my sub. I listen to a lot of rock/metal, but I do like rap and would like to be pretty loud. Any help with sub placement, volume, what to tune it to would be great. also it is in a blazer. As of now its in a sealed box around 2.6 cube with a Hifonics 1208d and i know it has so much more potential.

Thanks and if any other info is need please let me know

Id do 4 cubes tuned to 30 hz. Sub facing up, the port facing back. and 64sqin of port. Just wondering does your back window rattle bad, my buddy has a blazer and the back window sounds horrible.

No, it dosent rattle much at all

I'v never made a ported box before, so the port thing is a little over my head. How do i find out how to make the port, round, slot, and 64sqin is that how big the port opening should be?

So just some rough numbers but lets say a box 27x17x20 @3/4 would be 4.23

Then with the sub in there 4.04

Right about now i get lost, i dont know how to make the port, and if i should also add the port displacement into the 4 cubes

Thanks for your help sorry about all the questions im a newbe with ports

I'd personally try not to go over 4.0, but you can a little bit. I've heard that exact sub in 4.5 @ 32 and in 3.3 @ 30 and 3.7 @34 and 4.0 @30...

You picked the best overall option in my opinion. 4.0 @ 30 gets damn loud and really loves low rap. It also sounds surprisingly good on higher notes.
