Which amp and speaker set up shud I run?

Recommended Posts

Ok Im looking on getting my amp for my door speakers..

I only listen to rap and NOTHING else..

I plan on using the Mach 5 Audio MLI-65

They say they are 100 rms at 4 ohm?

Now the question is, Cud I wire them up into 2 ohm and just use a two channel amp ran at 2 ohms?

Or shud I just buy the four channel amp and run them at 4 ohms?

My amp choices that im stickign with are..

Rockford Fosgate T4004

Does 50 x 4 @ 4 ohms and its under rated..

Or..

Rockford Fosgate T3002

Does 100 x 2 @ 2 ohms and its under rated..

Not sure which to choose..

And are those Mach 5 Audio speakers straight speakers to run?

And other suggestions im open to but Im sticking to Rockford Fosgate for the amps..

"Cud" isn't a word...

They are 4 ohms, you can't change that....

Wudnt

Ughh.....

Yes, 2 of them would be 2 ohms....

When you do run them at 2 ohms off your amp alot of things happen. Your amp runs hotter, is less efficient, has more distortion and losses dampening... All of this at the gain of a db or so. I don't like doing this..... I would run each 6.5" on it's own channel instead of combining them...

What kind of crossover are you going to use? I assume active on these if you are running 2 ohm, or are you designing some passives?

Remember if you have passives already that are for (1) 6.5, they will cut the lowpass frequency in half if you run a pair at 2 ohms....

To tell you the truth bro..

I dont even knwo what active and passive is..

Lmfao!

I just figured I cud save money on wiring two speakers together at 2 ohms instead of 4 ohms..

Then I guess ill go with the T4004 and run em all at 4 ohms..

What kinda crossovers shud I get?

I don't know how you save any money by running them at 2 ohms...

Do yourself a favor, research passive and active crossovers, mill around the ideas for a few days and then post a question..

Please, do us all a favor and and quit writting words like "cud" "shud"... It makes you sound stupid, but I don't think you are... But when you are looking for informed, well thought out answers, at least attempt to post your questions that way...

Its sraight bro..

Call me dum all you want..Or wait I sound dum..

And saving money on an amp that runs only two channels at 2 ohms instead of 4 channels..

Hmm..

Think about it...

Ohh wait maybe if you tookt he time to research what amps im talkin about maybe you wudnt cry and have a hissy fit

Isnt that what this forum is about? To learn?

Love people like you who dont try and teach people..

And on top of it actually get pissed about someone who has never dealt with speakers and running an amp to them..

But I'm sure I CUD find someone who will help me out..

Not trying to be a an ass or anything but my post was kinda clear..

I was asking what I shud do..

All you had to say was run it at 4 ohms or 2 ohms..

But before we start the drama on forums lets leave it at that..

Dude, like cud you just buy some coaxials for front and rear and use the built in crossover in the T4004? Wire it up at 4 ohms per channel. It shud be just fine.

Not trying to be dum, but maybe you cud tell is what your goals are besides listening to rap. like subs, HU, sub amp. A little more explaining on your end and alot of us could help more.....Just a suggestion!

and you still haven't told us whether you are running 2 or 4 of the speakers If you're running one set, there's no way you can wire them to 2 ohms and use either a 2 channel or 4 channel at its best. It would be silly to wire your speakers from the two sides of your car in parallel onto one channel of an amp. Not only would it mess up your imaging, but it wouldn't give the speakers more power because they'd just be splitting the amp's power anyways.

Assuming you are using one driver per door, you can use either of those amps. Either wire them straight to the 2 channel with one side per channel at 4 ohms or get the 4 channel and bridge it and run one set of bridged channels to each side, again at 4 ohms. Personally I'd do a 2 channel for easier installation, but you may want to get a more powerful 2 channel.

Ok im buying the T4004..

Ill be running a speaker in each door panel, So i'll need two sets..

Right now I'm only going to be running an 18" BTL with a T20001bd..

I listen to only rap and nothing else..

The only thing im looking for is just loud and clean sound..

Im really only looking to spend around 300-350$ for both sets at the most..

I was just looking at the MLI-65's cuz they look decent and cheap..

Is this a more thought out post of goals and what not?

Alright, you really want to use those 6.5"s

What tweeters did you pick and have you decided and/or researched if you will go active or passive?

As soon as you make a choice, you can get help with your execution.

The overall impedance you will have (2 or 4 ohms) is pretty much a mute point, or in other words, it won't matter at all.... You gain almost nothing by running an average 2 ohm set over a 4 ohm set....
