comps?

What do you guys think I should do, just a pair of 2 way comps, or should I also get some 6x9's in the back as well? Some people say just the fronts matter, but some others say to get rears as well. I drive a 07 camry ce. Let me know your guys opinions. I want to hit mids and highs with crisp clear sound. Listen to mainly rap/hiphop/funk.

2-way comps are a great start. Please dont do the 6x9s, or any rear speakers for a trunk car imo

Correct.

Have you heard anything you like before? Just saying "crisp mids and highs" really doesn't give us a good indication of specific tweeters/midbasses you might be interested in...a piezo horn can be "crisp", but it's certainly not something most people would want to listen to for any length of time

what makes them useless? I can understand in a trunk'd car since the speakers are facing upwards...but in a hatchback they are facing towards the backseats.

ahh good to know so in YOUR opinion, what do you guys recommend as a front stage setup...I'm planning on running a 15" BTL...so something that would some good with 2500-3000 watts....

Since you asked opinions, IMO I'd spend as much on my front stage as the rest of the install and I'd use all DIY drivers. Of course, I'd never run a BTL though.

I personally will not give 5c of consideration to anyone than Number 1, the driver when designing my system. But regarding rear speakers, my impression is that they are just meant as fill, like the rearspeakers in a 5.1 home cinema system, but I'm probably wrong.

There is no fill in 2chn stereo and no logical reason for 5.1 in a car.

The rear speakers in a 5.1 surround setup actually are discrete encoded channels...not quite "fill".

It isn't that simple. It depends on your car, your desires, your processing, your budget, your amplifiers, your installation capability and so on.

anyways, this is going to be a winter project so nothing has been purchased yet and im running on stock interior speakers. I'm planning on upgrading 2...or all 4 drivers inside the car. Right now im driving an '03 VW Golf GTI. Right now the car has 6.5s all around along with 4 tweeters. I've decided that I will be going with a 15" BTL powered by a Sundown 3000. As far as interior goes, I've heard JL's, Massive's, Kicker's, Polk Audio's, etc...the only problem is that most of them were heard on a wall in a store. I'm not so much on a budget as i am trying to find a good deal or the right price for equipment. I would like to get a set or 2 of components for inside the car...as for brands im not exactly sure. I'd like something to be musical and not harsh on the ears with the BTL beating. I'm planning on doing the install myself, with the help of a few others that are also have knowledge in this field.

In my vehicles, I could care less if anyone even heard the music in back. Everything is aimed and positioned to sound good in my seat only,....the drivers seat
