How do i make room for subs?

I have a 97' s10 single cab in which i hope to install some subwoofers. I hope to fit the Fi car audios btl or bl series 10" woofers. Any help will be nice as i have no idea how to do so also what amps are best to use?

the sad thing about single cab trucks is there isnt a hole lot of room to do anything

u can put a sort of wedge shaped box behind the seat, but u will be eating the steering wheel and not comfortable.

Currently I have two ma audio 10" HK1001F and a 4 channel M500XE MA Audio amplifier. Is a blow through where you cut the cab and put the box in the truck bed? The current system is ok but it doesnt satisfy at all.

Yes, that is a blow through. What is it that you don't like about it though? The space is the main issue with your truck.

The subs i currently have are shallow mounts which are like 4 inchs. they dont get loud but are a upgrade to just the alpine 4x6's and 6 1/2's i currently have. I want something that when even an experienced spl nut or anyone who is into systems to say holy S**t! And i have a liking to the Fi products and want an upgrade. Btw the subs are 400 rms 4 ohm

Well a blow through is going to be permanent. And if you don't have a lot of box building and construction experience it could turn out not how you wanted it to. So if you do end up going that route and decide you don't like it...

I am good with my hands and im sure i can get the job done right but its not going to be able to be reversed. has anyone ever seen a blow through done? Have they gone completly wrong? I have absolutely no idea how it would sound. Any help???!!!! Im getting a Rockford Fosgate T40001BD for that subwoofer if i go this route.

Everyone asking so i just want really loud and accurate bass. Im very tall so behind the seats subs are completely out of the question. I have a few buddies that have the fi audio subwoofers and i love them and i want to get one also.

Any other ideas before i cut the hole?

Im getting racing bucket seats soon... Currently i have a bench im planning on building a custom console to dock my ipod and hold my drinks. Im planning on getting tint done too. Anyone know how much a tint ticket is?

depends where you are around here a tint ticket is like 200 bucks... if a blowthrough worries you definately build a center console box, you can put custom cup holders in it, and easily fit a 10, and with careful planning a 12, if i could get pics id show you the one i just built it looks amazing, but I guess theft is an issue when its in plain sight like that...

yeah very true. Im planning on bolting it in and putting one of those metal tonneau deals that lock. If they do end up stealing it im only out the box and sub. But i now made up my mind on the blowthough and make a center counsel fot the two tens so i can at least have a cup holder. Anyone have any pictures of an custom console with sub or subs in it? I plan on posting my project on this tread when im done. I look forward to having the loudest single cab in michigan lol it should be tight!!!

Before you do a blowthrough, I would seriously urge you to check out the Sound and Security section at www.s10forum.com. They have a lot of great installs over that, that you can look through for direct on where to go with yours.

Im not too worried about the blowthough because im a welder with lots of skill. If it goes wrong i can weld it back together. The vehicle is a 97 s10 so if i have a hole in it the most i can lose is like 2 grand.

you could put a cap on it remove the back window and blow it threw there eventually when you sell it just put the window back in.

Im not doing a blow though now and it through the window is out of the question. I just want to get it done and have it sound good so im going to build a center console with 2 fi 10's. Any ideas with which ones i should go with? I think two 10" ssds would be perfect for a single cab s10. Any ideas with which subs to use or ideas for the console?

well... heres one ported 12" q in a 94 s10 regular cab... mod it a little for two sealed tens or just port one 12...

depending on volume and type of sound you want and how much power you want to use you could use any 12" fi sub

If you've got buckets, it's not that difficult to build a center console for the subs between them. I've got a console between the seats in my '96 Tahoe, with a pair of Powerbass S-10's in a common enclosure of approximately 2.1 cu ft. The top is even with the armrests, while the bottom is elevated approximately 4 1/2" above the floor - my amplifiers are mounted on the floor, with the subs firing down. I've even got enough room to have a hinged compartment on top, about 3" deep, for storing CD's and crap.

I'd previously planned on building an enclosure to fit my (2) Celestion 15's between the seats, and mounting the amps under the seats. I got about halfway through building it, and realized it was just TOO bulky - about 4.2 cubic feet..... but if you need that much airspace, it CAN be done in a regular cab.

I did a regular-cab Ranger a long time ago, and built an enclosure shaped like a T - I picked up almost 2.5 cu ft of airspace by using the wasted space behind the seats (about 4" deep), versus the 2.5 cubes I was able to get by simply using the space between the seats. I was able to use (3) 12" Fosgate subs in the 5.0 cu ft, vs the (2) 10" Fosgates that would've fit in the smaller box. Mounted the two amps under the seats, and had a SERIOUS low-end with superb staging, having the bass up front.
