what is the best battery for street A. 650cubic in or less. from what ive found the nsb75 kinetik hc2000 and powermaster d2700 seem to be at the top. what bettery is the best and how much better is it than the others. if anyone knows of another incredible battery im missing let me know.

they are both great batts. but ive heard people say that the powermasters are barely better, but for the price it wouldnt be a big diff

NSB's have been highly appreciated, especially the 90 and the 120. Same goes for Cactus.

IMO Kinetic HC2000 = weaksauce. The 2400 can't hold up to start a small diesel. I don't trust it for a demanding application.

anyone know about them or have used them. 4400amp short circuit max discharge rate at 2 mins 591amps (7500+w). float voltage 13.4-13.8v should handle 30sec burps good. only $180

I haven't tried them in a Drag setup, but I do know that Northstar batteries are pretty nice. One of my teammates used one for a MECA amateur class. It held up well to a Powerbass 3000 @ .5 ohm and car off.

Diesels rely on pressure and "glow plugs" to fire their mixture. To crank the engine over to obtain that pressure takes some serious juju

For my diesel (which is a pretty typical size over here,2.5L), the glow plugs use 100A's to warm up when the weather is cold. Plus compression for diesels is much higher = much harder work for starter motors.

I have personally seen a few cars that couldn't start with a HC2000 so I don't speak out of the ass when commenting about the performance in such situations.

Check with Ray from Team Man-up, he runs in that class and just did a write up the Sundown section on using the Maxx-Link. I think he said he uses a Batcap 8400, and seemed to be a pretty serious battery.

i like the batcap 8400 but the price is nuts. i can get the datasafe hx300 for 180. the only price i could find on the 8400 is 1399. plus i believe its almost 1100cu in the street a limit is 650cu. if im wrong let me know

interesting, my fathers big arsed deisel 4x4 ford truck has used kinetik for 2 winters(bought used) since the stockers died..it took 2 as it replaced 2 batteries and they operated the snow plow on the truck flawlessly in the winter pulling double duty. Since he switched trucks due to fuel being what it was one now resides in his work truck and the other operates a bobcat. Both get used heavy in the winter and to my knowledge neither has failed yet, which for the bobcat says alot imo because you could not let it set for a week without hooking it up to a charger. My 1400 has survived under the hood going on 4 winters now and late january-early march MANY a day/night weeks at a time it stayed under 10 degrees and it has never failed.

Multi cells are not legal in street A so an 8400 is illegal. Most guys that are serious about street A run odyssey 1850 or NSB75 and I have seen a few kinetik 2000's. Heard of people using HX400's in street B and 2 in street C but not 300's in street A (doesn't mean they do not just means they don't say so.)
