I have built a few ALL ALPINE systems at my customers request but I was never that impressed.

Are we talking F1 Status or otherwise? ;)

I know little about car audio, but I too have heard tons of Type Rs and have yet to be impressed....but anyway, yes, in the correct installation the BL should hopefully eat the JL....may not have quite as much SQ (from what I hear) but be way louder.

note though: all the type Rs have been in some circuit city prefab boxes, so that may have some to do with it.

Alpine has made some nice head units and processors. There is no doubt about that. But components, amps, subs..... Notta fan.

Well, their Status drivers are Scans, nothing wrong with those :) The Type X's were always overpriced compared to the OEM Vifa drivers...anything lower isn't worth a mention.

A buddy of mine had a pair of Type R 12's bandpassed running off an MRV-1507 amp in a 99 Eclipse. Yes, it was loud as chit. But come on. What subs wouldn't be loud in that environment and how many problems did Alpine have with those amps? And how many of you have had issues with the new PDX?
