box design for (old style) 18" btl

I'm needing some advice on a box design for a 18" btl (old style) going in the back of a 1996 gmc suburban. Its a daily driver (no competitions) and Im looking for decent sound quality while hitting low and hard. I listen to mostly rap music and a little r & b. Not sure which way I should face the sub or the port or any of the box details to best suit my needs. Space should not be a issue since its going in suburban. Here are some other details about the install.

Amp: Memphis 16-2000d (old school mojo)

Components: 2 sets of CDT CL-61A w/ a kicker zx200.2 amp

Electrical: 200 HO alternator and 2 yellow tops. 1/0 monster cable everywhere

Head Unit: Jensen vm9411x (Yes i know Jensen sucks but it was brand new and I got a ridiculous deal for a lcd screen LOL)

In my suburban, subs and ports back sounded the best to me. Tried several boxes with different sub and port positions. Loudest on the meter was sub and port rearward and the box sitting 8" from the rear door.

Go with 48" wide x 20" tall x 20.5" deep. 3/4" material, double the sub mounting baffle.

Port will be 18.5" x 6" x 28" long. Run it into the box so it is 6" from the rear wall and then turn it and run another 7.5" parallel to the rear wall.

That gives you 7ft tuned to 32 Hz.

You have to excuse me Brian I am new to building boxes. If i run the port 6 inches from the rear wall that means it will be ran into the box 14.5 inches since the box is 20.5 deep then i run it parallel another 7.5 inches that only equals 22 inches long not the 28 inches you said. Im not sure if you had a typo or if im not understanding what your trying to say. I appreciate all your help

You have to add the distance through the center of the port, including the corner.
