Does she track straight or do the lifted heavy-chevy dance?

i've had several lifted trucks through my life, and all my chevys were the best. my 86 with 16" of spring lift and 38" gumbo monster mudders was a beast, and i could drive all day with no hands. my 88 ranger with 9" of lift and 33" tires however, lol, i couldn't sink enough money in that truck to make it run/drive right.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Your Ranger was a Mazda though :D

wouldn't that make it better?? lmao....to be honest, the lift was fine on the truck. it even had a strong rear axle, 8.8, however the front dana 28 was junk, as was the 2.8ltr v6. a 289 was destined to take it's place, but i just flat ran out of money trying to fix that thing. one cool feature was it had dual tanks. never seen dual tanks on a little truck before that.

oh well, maybe one day my new truck will get an altitude adjustment. though at current income levels, i doubt it.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

The deal on the S6 fell through and I am approved, drove it and enjoyed it but not sure I want that sort of responsibility in today's economic times.

I don't have to worry about my job, but my income is directly related to profit of the company. If we don't do well, I don't do well. Of course I have the power to lay people off which improves my scenario but that can be a rather short cited solution and I am thoroughly opposed to it.

Plus, I haven't had a car loan in more than 10 years. Having one now would piss me off. I am a firm believer in the if you can't pay for it, don't get it. Keeps my spending grounded.

Here's another pic. To answer all the questions

Its an RCD 6" lift (typically $1600 new) that I bought used from a guy that was converting to 2wd. I also got the traction bars ($600), wheels and tires (probably another $1500 new), another front differential, two half shafts, front drive shaft, new hub. Got all of it for a grand total of $1500. Turns out that one of my hubs was going bad so getting a good one worked perfectly.

I also found out my neighbor can do gears so I'm about to get 4.56's and a detroit truetrac for the rear and be set :)

Those are just about the classiest rims you can put on a truck. I am partial to totaly black rims too though.

Thanks, and if you're into black rims I heard the Cragar Soft 8's are very popular in the truck world and look similar to what I have.

yeah, i get my last one next week, then it's time to file for my first extension. i've exhausted the allotted time for receiving checks but my ui claim has another couple grand left i should be entitled to :D

Pfft, I wish. I swear we could have done a solid axle CONVERSION faster than we did this lift.
