Got back yesterday from my week+ vacation with the gf and her family. We first went to Delaware, then up north to Vermont for a few days. And I have to say, for those of you who live on the northeast coast, how the hell do you do it? I absolutely hated that place. waaaaaaaay too many people. You can drive from southern Delaware through New Jersey and eastern New York and halfway into Connecticut and NEVER LEAVE A CITY. I felt so claustrophobic. Everywhere I looked there were cars and houses and people. I was like give me an open grassland FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! On the way home we wanted to get near enough to New York to see the skyscrapers (I had never been there), and this too us into the Bronx for the shortest way in and out. wow. there were literally like fifty 20-25 story apartment buildings, wide ones, all next to each other. I mean it looked like there had to be 100,000 people in the space of 10 city blocks. How in the hell can you live like that? Made me appreciate the midwest all that much more.

Everything is closed between Christmas and New Year :(

How many people are in the town that you live in Adrian?

Almost 400 000.

I was exagerating with "everything is closed". Just a little aggravated that I couldn't find someone to wind my transformer :(

Holy crap, thats a big town.

only a tenth of metro Phoenix

Hey, how was the road trip? Didn't miss to much around here though.

18 hours to Delaware, 12 more to Vermont. It was supposed to only be like 7-8 hours up there, but we kept hitting stop-and-go traffic every 2 miles. It was absurd.

Of course the minivan was loaded to the gills, and at that long of a trip people tend to get a little cranky. Not me, though. I'm a very good traveler.

Found out that I don't really like my gf's brother. He played video games 98% of the time and is not tactful or courteous and oftentimes lazy. and kinda just annoying in the way he speaks (tones and word choices).

However, one great thing did come out of the trip, and that's that I want to do everything I can to spend the rest of my life with my girlfriend. We haven't spent that much time together before even though we've been dating almost 3 years, and she really hit me in the blood pumper with how she treated me. Her family didn't always get along great on the trip, and she was in on some of it with them. But she was very gracious towards me. We woke up every morning and just lounged in bed for a while, and it was perfect. I missed it this morning. But there will definitely be some strains on us coming up. She graduates in May and is moving back home for the summer (45 minutes away) before having a 4 month internship 3+ hours away. So it will basically be seeing her probably once or twice a month for those 7-8 months. Then after that she may accept a job anywhere in the US, and I'll have to find out if I can follow her. So it seems perfect right now, but definitely won't be a year from now.

Well anyways, sorry for the sappy stuff. Got to snowboard two days, though only one was any fun. The night before the first day it snowed 2-3 inches so there was a great powder on the slopes. Then the next day it got warm and rained, then froze that night. The next day on the slopes was a biiiiiiitch. total ice, with ice balls as large as a softball scattered all over the place. Even running over them with my board wouldn't break them. Yeah, we left the slope after an hour because it just sucked. But what sucked even worse was the $90 lift ticket per day! holy crap! Last time I went, granted it was in Colorado, it was only like 40-50 per day!

I think every female that was in my HS class is engage/married/pregnant/has a kid and combinations of such. Only one of the guys that was in my class to my knowledge is engaged. Now this was only a class of 21.

I can't imagine there's a whole lot of professional opportunities for females in Kansas so they've got to do something with their lives, I suppose

It's no where near as dense as the east coast

just miles, and miles, and miles of suburbs...

Never been to the east coast, and from what you said KU, I'm not sure I want to go visit...

there are distinct advantages to the density however
