Friend called me saying her car wouldn't start (mid/late '90s Toyota Corolla) and the battery was dead, so went over there and jumped it, cranked but wouldn't start. So I'm standing there looking at this little 4cyl wondering why it wouldn't fire I decided to check the oil.

Bone Fricking Dry.

I had 3/4 a quart in my trunk so I dumped that in there and it got it on the dipstick but still below the add mark.

Left the jumpers on it for a little while, wouldn't start, then took them off and it wouldn't even try to crank so the battery is toast. I've had a problem before of if the battery is toast it won't start on jumpers.

moral of the story:

CHECK YOUR DAMN OIL LEVEL.

for the first time in YEARS I paid someone to change my oil. it felt so weird.

I want an LMS 18" for the HT I think.......

That or a few IB 18's of some brand or another. I wanted to do a pair of the SDX's from CSS, but I think I'm past that now.

but what about corners?

Hard to say from the passenger seat. His car was amazingly glued.

Tom, since I knew you were going to ask :)

*snip*

Sweet, glad to see it on the road :)

I won't deny there are a few things I'd change if it were mine though

Let me guess:

smaller rims

no wing

not a white interior -- although considering it is the original color from the car maybe not

different tires

no LED tail lights

a little less shaved

Oh, and I think the fiyachicken is faster than the Benz. Maybe because of the noise, but it sure felt faster and not just by a little bit. I am sure from a dig the Benz will win as it is bound to hook up better with all the electronic goodies, but from a healthy roll I don't think it stands a chance. Considering it is supposedly a 12.5 and under 1/4 mi car that is saying something as well.

you guys were guessing about 450 hp in the 'bird right?

I wouldn't be surprised if it hit high 11s if it could hook

I'd put it in the 11's from seat of the pants. The 450 unlike most peoples guesses I actually think is conservative. I am not so sure about it hooking though, it likes to rotate them at about any speed but so does the E55 (well the electronic grandma kicks in a lot anyways).

From a roll the thing is a beast.

the wing, wheels, and tires are the only things that really bother me

I could probably live with the wheel/tire combo if they were 17's but that wing....... yikes

I'm sure the stiff suspension and short sidewall aren't helping it hook up at all

The only positive about the wing is it is era appropriate and "original"

technically not original since it's not a real TA

and era appropriate and original are no excuses for fugly

IIRC, in some magazine, they had a first gen 'bird with a wing from a early-mid 80's TA on it, and it surprisingly looked pretty damn good

I was trying to be nice, I never said I like it. I think the whole ass of the car is fugly though.

Aren't those 18's? The profile sure looks similar to Josh's although all the chrome, in particular on the double lip makes them look bigger.

Sean, I love the S5 too. I have one problem though. I am mad at audi. They have really made a huge price jump recently. The cars are great, but I honestly thing they need to step up the performance/power a bit in the S cars. The RS line is also what I would call a joke (GASP) WTF OMG.

The RS is in the top 10 most expencive to maintain cars in the world. Up there with the SL 600's and the CL 600 as you pointed out before.

The audi's are sexy, cool, and have a nice fit and finish, but not enough in those aspects to make up for slightly less that what I would expect for performance. They get away with it though because their formula works. The S5 really shows it.

V8 check

MANUAL option Check

Sexy as FOOK Check

You can trick it as much as a civic Check

Amazing intuitive controls Check

It's not Japonease. CHECK

2 door that can actualy seat 4 but still looks coupe CHECK

Hmm, Lambo V10 expensive to maintain??? Lol.

I agree that my issue with the S4 was it was the least exciting car that I drove; however, it would also be the easiest to drive everyday all day. It is almost boring it is so civilized which of course nearly makes it Japanese. Having snow tires already in 17" which will fit with some cheap rims (thank VW for that) means my out of pocket on the car is nothing...outside of the stereo :)

As for the price jump, considering what you get paying around $30k for a 2006 S4 doesn't actually seem all that out of whack to me.

Do realize that the exchange rate from Euro to $ has gone from 1.17 to 1.55 or so in the not so distant past. Pretty amazing these cars are affordable at all. Of course the classic rule of sales is get as much as you can. Considering in Germany right now that both Benz and BM'er are using the Audi as a benchmark I am not surprised they are asking a bit more. I would like to see more grunt in the 4.2 though.

SO TRUE. If I were you it would be the s4(considering you fit) after your dissapointing ride in the benz. I used to be in love with audi, especialy when I had my Jetta. I really think audi makes a great design in their cars. They are beautiful and stylish.

You know what eff it all I'm gonna get a Ruff and then everyone can kiss my rear.

I do still plan to have a second fun car, although it will be a year or two. I just need a daily driver.

I wouldn't really call my ride in the Benz disappointing, just wasn't enough to have me throw $8k at it extra over 3 years (assuming nothing goes wrong as if something did it would be more).

Anyone put a stereo in an A4/S4?

Yes. Was fun, but not easy.

A4, it was a 2001 I beleive.

Can I fit an 8 in the door is the real question.

nope, 17's

I really prefer the subdued look to the bright chrome, but it's really just personal preference

Fucking Toyotas are a piece of shit. Friend has that Corolla that I was talking about the other day, replaced the battery and discovered that it had taken out two fuses +unknown other electrical components that I haven't found yet. The car starts now but has no power locks, dash lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc, etc.
