15.47 x 67.34 = fuck if I know without a calc

And along with it who the fuck cares if you can actually do that portion of the problem. Not worth testing you on.

I can't multiply complex numbers in my head, or divide them for that matter

As stated once you get into real math, say beyond Calc there is no reason to prove you know that shit anymore.

At least in my classes, laptops aren't allowed for exams :)

I can't say that I have any respect for a prof who rights tests where a calculator would be beneficial. At least Calc or higher anyway.

Calculators are allowed in Diff EQ, and physics but if you couldn't do the problem anyways the calc wouldn't help you till maybe the last step if at all.

Now that is for tests, they were written so you didn't need a calculator, nor was it that beneficial.

Being allowed and helping aren't related. I didn't say that they should be disallowed.

Most of the courses I took that I used a calculator for weren't really "math" courses

I've had several classes where calculators were necessary as the prof wrote the exam problems to mimic real-world problems with numbers that are not friendly at all. And of course, they take off a couple points for calculation mistakes. So not really beneficial aside from practice, yet definitely necessary.

No calculator allowed here in diff eq's.

Fuck sonicelectronix. They need me to FAX a credit card authorization form ? And it's just for a $550 order :(

"we're sorry, it's against the rules not to send billing papers and it's illegal to declare a smaller value" = we're sorry, we want you to get plowed in the behind by the customs office.
