Hrmm... Guy tried to tell me that with long tube headers I am going to have problems with emissions because I am changing the location of the catalytic converters and 02 Sensors.... How does a catalyst perform different because of a change in location? I guess the gas cools sooo much in 18" that is becomes unconvertable in the presence of a catalyst :dunno:

in Arizona, for emissions testing, OBD-II vehicles ('96 and later) are only plugged in and checked for codes, they don't get sniffed

if TX is the same way, you don't even need cats, just make sure there aren't any codes in your PCM when you go in for testing

Kind of thought the same thing. I really need to check it out.

Looks like to get what I want I'm going to have to do it myself, not really suprised. What kind of gas will I need to weld stainless?

Final tally should be true duals 2.5", no cats and single dual in dual out muffler. The muffler will make things much cheaper because I only have to buy 1 muffler instead of 2 mufflers and an x-pipe. Should I buy something to atleast "look" like a cat. I never have had anyone check under my trucks but there's always a first.

I usually don't get any sort of visual inspection, but it's much easier to do on a truck and I don't know how serious TX is about this stuff.

If you ask around, there's usually at least one testing center in town that's known for especially lazy employees lol

I know the last time I went to get Old Blue inspected it failed twice and they passed me because they knew my parents and recognized my truck. So it seems I have connections but you never know... ya know?

It looks as though i may be able to get by at $600 all stainless 3" to the muffler and 2.5" the rest of the way. This will be utilizing 2 of Magnaflow Tailpipe Passenger exit. The piece is intended for dual use (one Driver side and one passenger side exit) but I think I can mod it to work perfect for a tucked dual seup. I'm going to have to get access to a real metal bansaw before I attempt this though

i saw stall, i'm assuming a higher stall torque converter? i'm not a fan of those at all, but you don't really have mountains either.

6 of our top 20 posting members are no longer considered active. Strange. I don't want SSA to become a top heavy posting forum where only a small handful of people make the majority of posts.

If anything, I think the number of people making 10-15 posts a day has gone up significantly, sure, they don't have a ton of posts yet, but they're adding up fast.

Of course, there are posters with the intellect of "RL-i 8 Jones", but hey, you can't have it all :(

Some of us are trying really hard to break into the top 20 without spamming.

I'm getting there. It's a tedious process of 20+ educated posts a day though.

Regular old Argon. Same used for carbon steel. Only thing you need to change is the wire. You can weld Stainless with regular steel wire, but what's the point in that?

That would be pointless in his truck, so I hope he's not.

SHit.

2008 Civic Si---$21000.

2008 AWD Fusion---$21000 after discount.

Fusion pros. AWD, good power, easy to mod, bigger vehicle, nice big trunk, leather and all the goodies, I'm a Ford freak.

Fusion Cons. Too many on the road. Will never hold value.

Civic pros. IT's a Honda, holds value extremely well, greater reliability in the long run, slightly better on fuel.

Civic cons. It's a Honda, it's smaller, FWD.

What do I do?

I have yet to drive the Civic, so I don't even know if I'll like it.

Anyone have any other suggestions in this price range? I'll have a $10K down payment, so I'll be looking to finance no more than $15K.

What are you looking for.

I love my patriot and you could almost buy it with cash (or you could get the limited 4x4 one, have leather and all of those goodies) I average 28 mpg with about 70% city driving. It does 34 + highway easy. Tons of legroom.

holy chit did UPS fudge my box up.... completely crushed the padding on one of the inside braces of my driver. Thank god that fi makes a reasonably solid driver. It literally ripped the gasket off the rim of the driver on one side, and no other visible damage!!

Good job Fi. bad job UPS

fusion. by leaps and bounds. I would suggest go find a used car though if practicality matters. more bang for buck by far,.

Can't find anything used that I want with decent enough miles to pay for. For the prices I'm finding used ones for, I might as well spend another 3K and get a new one.

My big problem with the Fusion is the value. I want to be able to sell this thing in 3-4 years and recoup enough money to buy another Cobra.

Actually you can add good power, easy to mod and leather to the no brainer list too.

I'd have to say there is more Civics then Fusions on the road and an AWD Fusion is more of an enthusiast model, which means better re-sale to the right buyer
