Lots of places in that door you could mount them. They are going to flop on that plastic.

It had to be the stock location :(

Oh, well, if he decides to amp them I'll re-work it and try to make a real baffle :peepwall:

Aren't there any wholesalers around you? You could probably have someone go to an auction for you and get what you need easier than looking in podunk local.

The dealerships go to the auctions and pick up the cars around here - or someone in their network.

Guy flat out said that the reason that there are a ton of '07 Impala's on the lots (in BC and AB anyway) is because of one of the programs GM has ... they were rental vehicles. No thanks.

I'll have to do a little research on the '04-'05 CTS. I could definitely settle for that now.

My limited slip differential is making clunking noises when I turn hard while accelerating ... Anyone know what would cause that ?

I checked the lubricant level and it's fine ... and it was drained and refilled a few months back, so it's new lube ...

Just one direction? Only under acceleration? Does it happen without turning if you are on/off the throttle? What kind of car?

Only under acceleration, both directions (left and right) ... Doesn't happen when I'm not turning and doesn't happen when I'm turning but not on the throttle. Car is an '87 Nissan 200SX.

Repetive clunk or just once when you turn?

Repetitive until I let off the gas or stop turning ...

Sounds bad, almost like it is poorly shimmed or worn to a point where it needs to be addressed. Is the fluid clean looking?

The fluid was changed like 3 months ago (if that), so it's fine ... The rear end is 21.5 years old now, so it's quite possible it's worn out, especially considering I like to get sideways ...

My buddy has an '05 CTS and has had a ton of minor problems with it, mostly related to electrical systems and sensors ... The interior is very nice, though and there's plenty of power ...

Anyone here pretty handy with Excel?

I have to come up with a way to put random integers between 1 and 500 in a table, no repeats, using VBA only...pretty sure it's going to involve a For loop of some kind and a Boolean table to check whether or not the number has been used.

Should be fun :(

I have zero idea as to what car to buy.

Steve, I just bought me an '06 Pontiac G6, Its a damn nice car. The stock system is actually much better than i thought it would be. Pretty quick and gets pretty good gas mileage. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a newer car.

Sort of asinine to praise a cars stock system on here, perhaps you should be happy with other things on the car and like it for that since the stock electronics are going in the garage if you come here :(

simply stating i was impressed with the stock system. wasnt praising it as you say. It has been quite some time since i've ran across a decent stock system.

Overall ... he enjoys it? I assume you have either driven it or ridden in it or both ... your thoughts? I do like the interior too.

Were the minor problems covered by the warranty? Any idea (roughly) how much he has dropped on those repairs?

I heart 100W soldering irons.

Tinned some 1/0 no problem.

I heart 240W soldering guns. :)

I won't touch coaxial cable work without at least a 100W gun...you can sit there all day trying to heat up a PL-259 or N connector with a wimpy pencil iron.

OK, I got the random number generator thingy working without dupes, now I need to figure out how to select a random cell in that table...hmmm

Anyone ever try one of those "cold" soldering irons I've seen infomercials for????

Heard iffy things about them, so I didn't bother.

They work fine for arts and crafts projects. Anything more heavy duty and you're SOL...

Aha, but by definition random is repeating therefore use any pattern you like :D

My faith in humanity was just lowered even more.

AcidBurn2053: every single time I read one of your posts, it's like nails on a chalkboard, simply knowing that a person like you exists in this world decreases my faith in natural selection

Ford302Redneck: sweet.

AcidBurn2053: well, I guess you can be proud that you've proven Darwin wrong

Ford302Redneck: darwin?

AcidBurn2053: . . . .

Ford302Redneck: ?

AcidBurn2053: you can't be that stupid

Ford302Redneck: darwin?

Ok, that wasn't nice.

I enjoyed driving the two that I have. In fact one of my best friends is getting one because of me. You know how happy I am with GM lately, but nonetheless I think this is by far their best car.

Anything larger than 22ga wire & might as well start rubbing sticks, because they'll heat it up faster.
