I'm convinced there is a special section in hell reserved for art majors.

The off the wall chit that my roommate comes up with is beyond me.

Example: I was discussing powder, wildcat rounds, and firearm construction with him, he is sort of a gun nut. He asked about putting a .17hmr bullet in front of a necked down 7.62x54r casing. I explained what some of the shortfalls of that would be, then he all the sudden out of pucking nowhere said this. "What if the bullet was made out of light???"

I proceeded to smack him upside the head.

Were there any controlled substances involved?

I don't know, I could go for the short-haired, pierced artsy-type every now and then, so the female half of that major isn't all bad :P

Don't get me wrong, I love the look of a lot of the female art students that I know.

Nope, no controlled substances involved, if I didn't know better I'd say that he took part in 'em but I know him well enough to know that he doesn't.

That is ridiculous.

that's funny, me and an art major got into a heated (well she got heated) discussion about firearms.

she claimed they should be banned completely, i won't even get in to all the obvious points i made, but i did ask her at one point how much she knew about guns and she proudly stated "nothing at all, i've never even shot one!"

....i know something is bad...but don't know anything about it?

she was talking about how you hear about all the murders on the news. i asked her if she really thought the news reported the whole truth or just what she wanted to hear. she said she didn't want to hear about murders.

i couldn't help but laugh and ask how she heard about murders all the time on the news if that wasn't the case? she started to argue that drugs and cars kill less people but the other person with us actually started laughing at her (who is mildly anti-gun)

here's something that might help...

A Little Gun History

I Thought you might appreciate this . . .

------------------------------

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. >From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

China established gun control in 19 35. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

------------------------------

Guatemala established gun cotroll in 1964. >From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. >From 1975 to 1977, one million educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

------------------------------

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

------------------------------

List of 7 items: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

------------------------------

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

------------------------------

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

------------------------------

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

------------------------------

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

it's a bit long....but it's worth a read. especially the last part about australia.

Target max budget?

New old car still has factory deck... 1.5 din to work with, 6.75" door speaker opening factory in front doors.

Target max budget, who cares, lol. Spent 6 grand last spring on my spl stint.

2grand seems like the max i'd be willing to spend on a beater tho.

Any tweeter size limitations? I shouldn't have asked max, I really meant by what do you mean cheap max. You say $1k but it includes the amp and sub, I was referring to the "cheap" front stage portion. Also knowing the processing would help, I assume it is your 8455...

Planning on fiberglassing door pods since i have tons of glass and stuff laying around. large format tweets should fit possibly even a 7" midrange. its all just in the thinking process i really hate having no sound though. I was thinking like 400 for the front soundstage, don't have any processing capabilities right now. I'll go look at decks and compare my options unless someone has an h701 with supporting deck for around 400-500$. I was thinking for subs i would once again bug my buddy jacob and try out 2 sd 10"s either isobaric or a small ported box tuned to 32hz.

Processing choice first, drivers second. Don't you have an 8455?

sorry sean, but this teacher makes dynamics horrible. sitting in class right now counting down minutes and surfing the web.he has been going over an example problem for 20 minutes that i skimmed through in 3 and fully understand.

Don't apologize to me for a shitty teacher, I'd be glad to let him know he's an idiot.

i think i owe an apology to sean.

You said before how you could taste the difference between freshly ground and old beans. I figured you were full of chit. For chits and giggles i stole the rest of my roommate's fresh espresso this morning and i swear i'm drinking a completely different drink.

Hell on my machine you can see it. When I extract fresh ground I get 1" of crema, when it is just 8 hours old I only get 1/3...tasting it is even easier. Come visit and I'd be glad to demonstrate.

I swear the dry cleaners purposely breaks one colar tab in a shirt everytime we take them in.

Cheap manufacturer probably. Clothing here is the shit.

collar tab??

The little plastic rods that are in the points of the collars of decent dress shirts.

collar stays...you are supposed to remove them when you launder...I also prefer metal ones as they hold your collar nicer.

And yes I grew up working in a drycleaners so I am a little anal about how my clothes look.
