Welcome to the IHoP

Well, for the next two weeks or so I'm a hospitality and tourism management major...

I hope the IT department processes my paperwork really soon...

I'm sure that will take you far, Jim.

I'm looking for a flat screen low profile TV for my apartment room. This won't be in the living room, just in my bedroom.

-I'll sit about 7-9ft away from the TV and I mainly play Halo2 but I watch movies and cable as well.

-I really want the picture quality to not be blurry whenever movement takes place cause that gives me a headache.

-Sound quality is a big necessity.

-Budget is about $400-600, but will pay a little more for quality.

I saw a Vizio 26" TV at Walmart and it was $449 I think. The picture quality was pretty good, but I didn't even see speakers so they couldn't have been very effective and I really want good sound... I'm going to go to Best Buy or Circuit City here in a Lubbock and see what they have based on what you guys think.

what size and tunings have you used?

I believe it was .5ft^3 tuned to 47hz. I used industrial plastic wrap tubes for ports :P

The sealed was .5ft^3 too if im not mistaken

how was output in the .5ft3 sealed and how much power?

and how was the low end in the ported

It was in a charger in the rear deck through the stock opening.

Sounds really good actually.

Probably around 500+ rms

Ported the low end is quite good for the tuning i had.

It takes quite a bit to overpower them so even though it was unloading it wasnt reaching mechanical limits nor thermal lmits

Bah, you're hanging them from the rear deck? You could design a labyrinth style port that wraps around the box I bet :P

Tom's had good output sealed. I think he had .8cu.ft. ? He has something like 400-500w per sub? He'll have to clarify that. He had smaller boxes before and it killed the low-end. In your case, you might just want to whip together a .5 box and try one in the car..... see how it is. Then go from there with a finnished product.

The RLi 8s are the one sub I would want to do a bit of testing on. They are capable of many things but it's a fine line between boomy, tight, and just plain not enough bass.

They were originally in about 0.25 cube each with about 450w rms each. Definitely lacked low end.

Now they're in about 0.35-0.4 cube each with the gain on the 1500D all the way down. The low end is there now and they sound quite good.

Grats. Still out in the boonies of Aberdeen?

P.S. I'm probably going to pull out the T-Box soon. Did you want to hear it before I do? Are you going to your mom's this weekend?

the way these things are modeling that may be the way i have to go as i dont see any possibility of me getting the tuning and port area i want in the space im confining myself to
