I also had a few questions about the driver because the mounting holes are not drilled completely through, so do I just drill a small pilot hole and then drill the screws in? Regular wood screws from Home Depot are fine right? Any special kind I should use?

do you mean the holes in the gasket don't line up with the holes in the basket or the holes in the basket are covered by the part of the surround that is glued to the basket?

if it's just that part of the surround covering the holes, just poke a hole in it

i've always used coarse drywall screws

yeah I tired turning it... When you look under the sub, the hole in the surround matches the basket hole, but when you go to the top there's no hole. I guess I'll try poking through it and see if it gives. I just didn't wanna screw the driver up... thanks for the replies

I do know that I will be pissed if I have to do anything twice.

Then you better not invest in GM.

I think the problem is that the surround has no holes through it therefore you cannot see through it by looking at the top. This is how all new drivers come. You simply pull the gasket off, remove the surround material from the mounting holes and BAM!

so you wouldn't just poke through it, you would pull off the surround and pull back or cut away the material that's covering the hole?

i have to replace the a/c belt on the stratus, i'm really hoping that the squeeling is coming from the belt and not the compressor. I do not want to pay to get a new compressor and have the system charged

Could be the clutch.

i have zero experience with compressors, it's always been a remove and replace sort of thing. How difficult is it to replace the clutches and could i do it without unhooking the a/c lines?

Clutch is easy. You can get the info on Autozone's website. You will ONLY have to remove the clutch and NOTHING ELSE.

I figured I'd ask my question in here rather than making a whole thread about it... I just bought the ICON 12" D2 and Sundown Audio SAE-1000D amplifier and I was wondering what settings I should adjust and where to put them. The only tool I own is a DMM so an o-scope won't be possible unless I can rent one in Austin or something.

If someone respectable has this same set-up, could they let me know what settings they used for all the knobs and what voltage they're reading from the terminals so I know if the sqrt trick is accurate or not

I was also reading that the DMM technique is bad because it all depends on the output from your HU... I have a stock BOSE headunit, so if that's really a factor is there a way I can measure the output and factor that into setting the gain with a DMM?

how are these tweeters? Would you do 15 shipped?

They're pretty decent. I bought them new for over $60.

I'll do $15 shipped.

Still interested or no?

no. sorry but good luck with it.

Does it come with tweeter pods? If it do, then I will get it for sure this time.

It comes with the wedge mounts (pictures in my FS thread) and flat mounts.

On those mounts, I can just stick them on a pillar and angle the tweeter right? Sorry I havn't worked with those kind of mounts.

Not quite. You just screw or glue it in whichever direction you want it to point. There aren't any moving parts in the mounts.

oh nevermind then. My bad.

I found this entertaining.

I've got money again, 2 paychecks in the bank. :)

Don't get to spend it on audio though, have to go to Bowling Green, Kentucky here soon. Although the NRA is paying our way for the match, who knows if I might come home wiht an extra gun or not from it, I have been known to buy stuff like that. :)
