Or just keep a gas powered car for long distances, and drive an electric as a daily driver. Could probably get 50 or 60 miles off a single charge, which...let's face it, I don't travel that much in a single day or two. Keep the EV on a float charge otherwise...while the gas powered one gets saved for the several-hundred mile trips back home.

Big-ass Silverado, late '80s vintage, with 20-gallon twin tanks :D

Fill one with a 80/20 biodiesel mix (veg. oil/methanol), and the other with straight veggie oil. One tank for engine starting, the other for regular operation once it's warmed up.

The trucks are fun to drive, just not very practical right now. Great in the winter, great to haul people + lots of cargo around ... but just so shitty on gas.

On a side note, the local dealership wants like $63K for a new Tahoe ... ~ $55K USD. Little pricey

You know those little pill bottles you get prescriptions in from the pharmacy ... imagine one of those filled with some gel like crap. $38 ... and it's supposed to last more than a week when applied three times daily to both knees? I don't think so. Lucky my medical plan covers nearly all of it.

I know what's in it ... looks like an anti-inflam. and a pain killer. I should eat it or use it on my arms before going to the gym.

I can't remember the last time I went freshwater fishing...although I hear the New River has a nice smallmouth fishery, and I do have a 7' Shakespeare light action with some 10-15lb. mono - usually my speckled trout and red drum rig for the sound. Maybe flouder if they happen to be in the area.

Would look silly out there with the beach setup though, the 12' two piece fiberglass monstrosity loaded up for bluefish and 40lb. stripers in the surf :D I could probably stand on the lake side and hit boats in the middle of the lake...:)

Get a license beeyotch, we'll go bang some rocks :D I go to a spot about 15 minutes from you guys off of prices fork road. Best small mouth fishing size wise around. Also shallow as a mofo :)

hey Aaron :hay:

how's the baby? how's Amanda? how's life? how's the job? how's the new house?

:)

Hi ya Tom,

baby is doing better, we are starting to learn what he likes and visa versa, he is abnormally strong for his age (peditrician comment along with other doctors), but he is doing good, but not sleeping through the night yet,

Amanda is doing ok, I feel so bad for her sometimes, I wish I could stay home and help out, but I have to be here at work to pay for the house and such,

job is going well, I am learning more skills and tricks with the modeling software we use here, very tedious and exactly oppisite of AutoCAD so there is a learning curve, and it is very slow for me because I have to unlearn my AutoCAD/InterCAD/ExtraCAD habbits and tricks etc.

house is doing good, we just got a new couch, its a monster sectional that is slightly too large for the living room, but we now have 3 other couches that we have to figure out where we are going to put them in the house with no room left to spare, I admit we are not using the space in the office well with that gigantic desk, and the babys room is still well laid out but we are not going to mess with it now that we have everything set up right, blah that is my blurb for the day

Tom, you lost me on this one. $3k for only 400hp on a Chevy small block??? I think you could build something as potent cheaper, or better yet a lot more so for the same.

yeah, i haven't really looked non-long blocks

at this point in time, i dont have any where near enough mechanical ability to build my own engine

but from everything i've found of complete engines, that's a really good deal

I'm not too keen on the automotive forum being directly linked to the other place. I'd rather just view our threads here. Not happy about that.

Building an engine is easy. $3K is a great deal for that though, and you'll quickly eclipse the $1K mark in machine work many times.

I'm just looking for a completely street-able, reliable 350 that's about 350-400hp

I built the Galaxie's engine when I was 15 with no help, I did have a little labor help but from a very non-mechanical person. I just read a few books and manuals and ripped the motor out apart and slammed her back together.

To get 400hp reliably you won't need to spend $1k on machining, but surely will if you shoot for 500. Really a bore/hone should be all you need. For $3k you should be able to do the whole build and get a set of better heads. I have no idea on the induction system on any GM, but I would imagine some minor changes could take care of the front end and your recent cats/exhaust should take care of the back.

What power does your car have stock?
