Morning. Well I am about to go into the office to try and do some cleanup work. I need a shower first.

This pisses me off...

I bought one of those window crank removal thingies, but it doesn't look like there's a C-clip or anything on my window crank...just the metal shaft going back into the door and no clip in sight...

Anyone have experience with coaxing window cranks off? I'd like to get my doors measured today...so I know if the Chameleons are too deep or not.

Some have a little screw holding the crank arm onto a shaft, I have also seen press in pins, and others that are just pushed on (doubtful in a new car though).

It's 11 years old :)

I'll take a look at it again.

Also, might have a "pop-off" cover on the part of the crank over the shaft it connects to with a hidden screw.

11 isn't real old, my current baby is 15: and I just got rid of my '59 beetle and 68 Ford G.XL (cry, after 360,000 miles of fun!).

pucking rat bastards...now I know why my midbass response sucked, and I'm not surprised at all :)

The idiots who installed my FX6's (only part of the system I didn't do myself, when I first got the truck 4 years ago) just screwed the speakers right into holes they made next to the 5x7 cutouts (the original holes were for 5x7 coaxials). No spacers, no adapters, nothing. The rest of the hole was covered in black duct tape...bush league at its finest.

That's definitely getting changed...if I can figure out these damn window cranks :(

We're on inventory recognition and recording in my cost accounting class...FIFO, LIFO, fun chit like that.

I am just prepairing for a nice 600k write off :)

I can cause I have a 1mill credit from last year cause I am good like that. This year however, we have had an extramly high turnover rate in the stores coupled with my absence for a month during the layoffs.

Jim, you may have to push in on the panel a little to get to the clip. Ford hasn't used a screw on crank handle in about 25 years, so yours should have a clip.

if you don't see it by pushing, let us know what kind of car?

Pretty sure those are pinned, but haven't ever really been in one without power windows.

Ryan was incorrect about something related to cars (!) Turns out, there was a Torx screw right under the base holding the crank in place. The top half of the handle snapped out from the bottom, and the screw was sitting there.

The Chameleons are going to be a close, close fit though. I've got 2.75" of depth from the panel to the window glass, and .75" of clearance before the door panel. Factoring in a 1/2" wood baffle, and it's very tight. Oh well...will decide on comps this week now that I've got all the info I need.
