NP: Santana - Europa

I found a cool guitar-parts place online that sells all kinds of knobs to fit 1/4" pots...so I'm picking up a handful for the EL84 project and a couple replacements for other things.

And because I broke the chitty RCA jacks off when I was prepping the cabinet for painting, I'm replacing them with these: http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info....products_id=548

Although I probably should just remove the pots from it entirely...I don't need volume control on the amp as I'm going to use the NAD 3020 as a preamp/input selector.

PICS!

Pics coming this weekend :)

I put the finish coats of Rustoleum hammered finish on the top/power tranny last weekend...need to paint the underside of it this weekend and reassemble the tube sockets/output transformers/switches.

It's going to look good when it's finished :)

That's the before shot. It's overexposed, so you don't see a lot of the surface scratches on the top of the chassis and the marks on the power transformer. Also wanted to cover that annoying yellow lettering. Three coats of enamel really covered all the paint chips and scratches nicely.

Also the two Zenith black plate power tubes that came with it didn't fire up for some reason, I think they weren't tested very well. That's really no problem though, replacements are actually pretty cheap to come by.

Awww isn't that cute :)

It is a cute little thing...going to be the amp for my TV/living room system.

It's actually close to double the power of my 2A3 stereo rig which is about twice the physical size and weighs three times as much :)

But that's the difference between pentodes and true directly-heated triodes.
