nick..it's not a turbo chicken..but i own two xr4ti's...lol..

one is a 5 speed...one is auto...

both 2.3 (or 2.2 whichever) turbo cars...unsure of year..lol..

btw, same motor as mustang svo..just no intercooler...

Sub came with the components.

Good job on the packing dennis, just remember to put something under the magnet next time ;)

that was the worst packing job ive ever done for someone to be honest. mostly cuz i dont care about that piece of poo. :P sorry i forgot to protect the magnet.

make sure someone brings a 1kw+ amp to the meet so we can fry it! :D

It's a 2.3

Not IDENTICAL to the SVO engines, but very similar. All Automatic cars had different turbos as well. Believe it or not, they were actually smaller than the 5 speed cars.

The SVOs were just a different breed. Slightly ported heads, a different cam, different impellers and turbo specs, but they were all within 20 horse of each other except for the 85 1/2 SVO. That was the grand daddy with the most horse and torque of any of them.

I dunno how much You know about the boosted 2.3's, but i've learned alot in the past few weeks... guess where I am going with this? hee hee

The little buggers can be very potent. I have several magazines with some excessive and some rather simple, but proven power. Meguiars had a NOPI Focus with a 2.3 turbo running 8s. That was killer.

I see exactly where you are going with this, and it's going to be more than worthwhile IMO. Might have to get new motor mounts, but that should be it. Plug the new ECM in and you should be good. Other little things here and there, but definately a good idea I think.

Ah crap, only bad thing about the 2.3s, they are notorious for blowing the seal on the oil pan which will disintegrate into the pan and clog the oil pump. Make sure you use a rubber gasket and some silicone. Never had a problem after that fix and the 5 that I've had.

Clutch is going to be a little tricky as the Turbo cars used a hydraulic clutch compared to the NA2.3s cable setup. If yours already has a 5 speed, I'd just pull the Merkur's T-5 off the bellhousing and transplant it.

Pretty much 95% of what I'm planning. :D

With minor tweaks, the laptop tuning, and picking up a new fmic these 2.3T cars can run into the low 13's. Off of a straight swap they run mid 14's. Thats nothing to sneeze at, particularly for the lil 2.3.

Anywho, hopefully Kent will come through as SVO>Merkur>TC.

If not, the plan stays. I can do the swap for around ~1500 TOTAL and run faster then the same amount and time spent on a 302 swap.

More importantly.... this is more unique heh.

oh, potent too :D

Couple of turboford.org guys are running nearly 28psi and running LOW 11's with a 150shot. :drool:

I figure, a 91 stang, walled or half walled, running 13s on a boosted 4banger and getting 18-27 mpg is enough to make a guy giggle.
