That tall bastard also STOLE a sweet grinder from CL or ebay.

Mazzer super Joy I think was the name.

Jelly. If I ground my own beans I would probably drink about 2 times as much. Might be able to kick the energy drink habit too.

Sean might even buy his own beans then roast them locally too. I don't remember if that was him who does that. So good.

$100 for the SJ, $40 for burrs. Used they normally go for $500. Works SWEET.

I don't roast beans, but I buy them green and my father roasts them.

That is another thing about coffee. You have a VERY short window post roasting to drink them. They mature at around 3 days and start to go south around 2 weeks. At 3 weeks old they are garbage. Once ground they last less than an hour when exposed to air.

Just don't drink coffee, and you'd of saved.... Just fucking with you.

I understand the eventual savings, and that does make sense, but from the git-go I was under the impression that the grinders just had a huge profit margin in a niche market so to speak.

Btw, this is what a cappuccino looks like. Not the dry monstrosities they serve at most coffee shops.

I'll further extend my showings of lack of knowledge, and ask if you've ever had those beans from the cats that shit them out.

I was literally LOL typing that.

Won a coffee basket at my daughter's art school fundraiser, finally got a french press. I'm liking it, now to get a grinder and start grinding my own beans.

You are going to puke at the price of real grinders. Hard to find anything worth a shit under $250

Only an idiot would spend $250 on a coffee grinder, and I don't care how "good" it is--that's ridiculous.

That's for a shitty one.

No, the shitty one is the one I bought at Macy's for $30. Has yet to touch a coffee bean, though...

Profit margin is smaller than on optics, by a lot.

They start to make money in the >$1k grinders. Not a whole lot of difference between the Rio and Super Jolly for instance. Enough to make a significance in a cup.

As for the "don't drink coffee" and save money. Put this in perspective. I drink coffee & water with an occasional juice. Water is RO and "free", coffee is uber cheap. Who else doesn't drink a few beverages they pay for daily? Hell a glass of milk costs more than it costs me to make a coffee EVEN if you amortize my gear over the time I've owned it and not look into the future.

Matt, you seemed to be a knife geek, I want an every-day carry and I was looking at the Kershaw Leek (not the fancy pants Composite). Is it really worth stepping up to the composite and forking the extra dough ?

I read that as cats ship out. In that case, yes I've ordered from Intelligentsia. Good stuff. If you really meant shit, I've never even heard of it.

I've got a spinner as well. $15 though. Never seen coffee, but gets used a couple times a week.

I've done this several times as a kid. Severe lack of depth perception is a bitch...

I've heard of "fancy" coffee beans that are picked out of jungle cat-shit as they claim the cats eat the best beans. I'm sure it's just some dumb fad.

I fucking love this shit

Good stuff, I've used tons which had a grinder. And then I mixed my own since the pre-mixed ones were much more expensive. Finding the red pepper was always a pain.

So I got this stupid idea to go backpacking in the mountains later this month. Ordered a 20F mummy bag, and contemplating ordering a one person tent also.

It's going to be cold but with a good bag you shouldn't have problems.

I wouldn't venture out in the mountains over here during winter. Heavy snow-fall = certain death if you are inexperienced.
