Yup. AR 500 is what you need. And 1/2 inch or better.

Any other steel will probably be too soft no matter the thickness and will rupture.

Someone mentioned blasting manhole covers with large handgun and smaller rifle and those would eventually burst and those are an inch or more thick.

Hard steel is hard, soft is soft. You need hard and probably no less than 1/2 inch.

Was the plate fixed or allowed to swing? You do need AR500 or AR400 plate. AR stands for Abrasion Resistant.

Have=handle

I didnt have it that bad. no one shot at me, and i wasnt in danger or being mollested etc.

Just couldnt take bitch ass attitudes, liars, theives, and basicaly evil people.

And what you couldn't take is a good part of why I despise my current working decision. I would GLADLY go back to dealing with incoming than dealing with the dumb fucks who run shit right now.

I'll give you a hint...

Welding chain isn't the best idea in the world. Welding will leave a heat affected zone and soften up the AR500 there, and if you hit the chain the target falls. A longer lasting idea is old fire hose, rubber belting, or anything else that you can mount and poke holes in without the target falling. Bolt holes/tabs cut with a water jet is the best way to deal with AR or any heat treated plate as opposed to a plasma or thermal process.

first real migraine since being fired....

It was so bad, before I woke up I had a nightmare my teeth were cracking and falling out of my head and I was mashing raw nerves.

Super fun.

I like it... but I would never, ever, ever, EVER own it. I can just see the news report over it.

Sounds like a bitch of a process just to get some mounting holes in the metal. Perhaps I'll order a precut circular target, and then look for some firehose.

they will probably laser cut it.

cold water/cold CNC is best. Plasma it just a bad idea.

Having someone cut them for you is the BEST idea. I may have a lead on a buddy who cuts them. He's starting his own business selling premade kits. I'll let you know when/if he gets into it.

That has to be the only time in the history of the universe that phrase will be typed or spoken.

Always easiest to order precut pieces, get them small enough so they fit in the USPS flat rate boxes too. Its the best way to get steel shipped. Or find what you want in a target package and just buy it, I don't think the folks who do the steel targets make a bunch of money doing it, to many people out there.

I think most of the guys who make them do it for #1 love of the community, and #2 so they can make their own to their spec and afford to do so by involving many parts to bring the cost down.

I do enjoy talking to one of my friends who makes me look like a complete amateur, it seems he picks up a new sport every time I talk to him. One day it was Palma rifle matches, started winning those, then it was silhouette pistol matches, etc, etc. I'm waiting for him to make the Olympic team to give me an excuse to go. Or if I just got off my ass and started training again, I could go for free.
