Glass is expensive, buy the gun, stick it in the corner, spend that much or more on glass.

Let me make this simple:

I want to shoot long range, and I understand that the further you shoot, the scope becomes more detrimental. However, my uncle has that $200 Leupold, and it's worked for him with stuff in the 400 yard range, which I think is a good start. So yeah maybe it's not perfect, but considering I may buy the rifle & scope, do it for six months, and get bored, I don't want to dump a TON of money into it yet. A TON of money I simply just don't have, but perhaps down the road if I enjoy it enough, then I could acquire the funds through various methods such as: prostitution, BJs, and hackjob stereo installs.

I don't see what's wrong in getting a "cheap" scope until I really know if this is something I want to really get into. If I said I was going to buy a $20 scope then I would fully agree with you, and perhaps to you a $200 scope is, but for now I will make due with what I can afford, and in the case that I continue to do it, I'll upgrade the glass.

I don't know shit about guns Stefan but that sounds backwards to me. Glass is expensive, steel is cheap. That's sort of akin to spending $200 on wire and $50 on speakers.

You speak as if I'm spending $1000 on a rifle, and $250 on glass, which I would see as odd as well, but I'd be spending a little less then half the cost of the rifle it's self. :)

I work for an optics company. My gut says spend 80% on the optics. Rifles generically are simple to make in comparison and have cheap contents. Just seems backwards to me.

I'd also expect that in your category used is really the only option. Should be plenty of people upgrading out of the price class you are in :)

I'm happy to buy used, but unfortunately people in AZ seem to think their old POS rifle is worth a lot. I went to a gun show today, total waste of time. Visited the branch store Sportsman's Warehouse. All new, cheapest thing they had that I figure was decent was a Remington 700 adl, and I guess the sps replaced the adl version. adl version was $430 new with their scope, so that seems like I'd be better off spending a little more for the better version of the 700 model, and not pay anything towards their super cheap scope.

I'm going to another gun shop tomorrow morning that carries tons of new and used rifles, so hopefully they'll have something decent.

Come down and visit the shop down here bro. I know its a small hike for you but the guys who operate my local gun shop are damn good and can give amazing advice. They don't stock a shit ton of rifles as they are primarily a hand gun shop, but what they do stock is pretty good shit.

I really disliked the gun show too, such a bad atmosphere.

The ones down here always are. I have never gotten anything but a 'swap meet' vibe from them.

Fort Lowell & Country Club. Not exactly close to either of us. :P

If your in Tucson, and looking for another well run shop, check out The Armory On Pima. They sell new tactical-ish rifles and pistols. It's where we got our HK 9mm, xdm 9mm, xd 40/357sig, m&p15-22, and the sig 556.

Overheard in Best Buy car audio section today:

#1: No, I'm going to get some huge speaker [makes huge circle with his arms], probably 2000 watts. Something like that [points to the low end 12" Polk sub in display]

#2: Yeah, that'd probably like blow out your windows or something.

#1: Probably, I'll probably just do fiberglass instead (I'm assuming he meant Plexiglas)

#2: Yeah, you'll have to!

Me: sigh.gif as I walk away

Lolol, If I had a dollar for ever ytime I heard that I would be a retired man. I love when some guy says "SSAudio What is that? Some Cheap Knock off? My [insert mainstream company] would blow those subs away".

Funny, no one has dared say that to my face. ;)

So, I'm looking into a coffee grinder again. I bought a cheap burr mill that was great for a while, but something has messed up and sometimes almost whole beans get through. I also bought a tiny french press and am going to replace that while I'm at it.

For the press I figure I can just pick up a Bodum at Target, but I wanted to go a different route on the grinder.

I really don't have the budget to spend $100 on a grinder and I know that for coffee geeks less than $100 is a sin, but I'm going to do it anyways. I've head that this grinder is one of the best under $100. Any tips from the coffee croud?

I'm going to make an armband for Ipads, so people can use them to listen to music while working out--LOL.

I'll be so rich.

Drink rum instead, problem solved. :ninja:

<--Really wanted to say: "Steers & Queers," in that Loudest F350 thread, but didn't want to throw it off-topic, and piss off all the non-ihop'ers.

Bustin' balls for the lulz.
